It might be an ingrown hair/ oil plugged hair follicle. If so, I've had two of those over the past few years. The first time it freaked me out and I was wondering if it was a STD developing out of the blue but within about a week it shrank and went away. Just keep any eye on it and if it gets bigger or is still painful in a week go to see your GYN just in case. Good luck and hopefully you'll be back to normal soon.

It could be a bartholin gland cyst. It's when a gland down there gets clogged and infected. If it gets too big, they can treat you with antibiotics and/or they can drain it. Keep an eye on it. You may need to have it checked.

Yeah, that's what they call it "bartholin gland cyst" I remember now. Thanks for reminding me and putting the technical name on it Tiffani.

Definitely keep an eye on it if you suspect it may be a bartholin cyst. I had some major problems with an infected bartholin's gland. If you start running a fever, or it gets uncomfortable make sure you see your GYN immediately.

Good luck.

I did a search online and found a site that tells about those cysts....but I dont think that is what it is....it says...

The cyst can grow from the size of a dime to larger than a golf ball. They can be tender and very painful when they are infected.

Mine isnt that big...it isnt even dime size......more like the size of a pimple.

Do you shave or wax your pubic area? I have had ingrown hairs from shaving/waxing there. I went to my gyn and he pulled the ingrown hair out, kinda painful but it went away soon after that.

One other thing I might add, hope its not offensive. But if either one of you have had previous sexual histories besides each other, sometimes those things dont come out for years if so you can get it checked out to rule out an std.

Ashley- Yes I do shave my pubic area. but this is on my inner labia.....so I dont think it is an ingrown hair. And hubby and I were both each others firsts, so it cant be an STD. It will probably go away soon.

The cysts can also be small. They don't have to be the size of a dime. I get them all the time. My GYNO wants me to come in next time I get one so that it can be checked. Only because I can get about 6 at one time. OUCH!!! And mine are about dime size each.
