I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this one, but here goes. I have been anovulatory sine age 14 or so, on BCP forever, have had maybe one or two natural periods in my life since then- am now 39. Got pregnant with IVF and delivered in 8/06. Have been breastfeeding ever since. Obviously, the breastfeeding has slowed alot (my son is now 2.5 y.o., and week before last I started having pinkish streaks and lots of cramping, felt just like a period, but without the blood- this went on for 3 days, finally, the brownish gunk started, very light though. That went on for a week. Now it's stopped, but half way into it, I got VERY cranky and am now hyper-irritable and bloated and am eating everything in site.
Was that a period?
Let me add that I was also dx w/ depression in 2000 and have been on meds (Lexapro and Wellbutrin) ever since, along with lots of self medication with marijuana (not since prior to my pregnancy, though- now clean since Oct. 2005), and aside from post partum stuff my moods have been relatively OK, until Feb. of last year, when I suddenly began experiencing episodic skin itching (felt like crawling and biting on my skin) accompanied by intense irritability and hyper-sensitivity to all stimuli (light, sound, stress, etc.)- this seemed to me like it might be hormonal as my son started nursing less and thus I had less estrogen suppression, but I'm not sure what it was. In any event, half-way through this recent spotting stuff, I started feeling that way- itchy, irritable, fatigued, short-tempered, you name it! It gets a little better if I have a beer, but then rebounds.
Am I nuts?
If anybody can relate to my "period" or any of the mood symptoms I am describing, PLEASE post!
