Default Weird . . . Wrist Pain Anyone?

My wrists and lower forearms get really really sore . . . I don't think it's carpal tunnel . . . but just curious if anyone else suffers from it . . . what do you do for it if you do suffer from it?

(bizarre *symptom* I know)

what kind of job do you have?

I do data entry and I have this discomfort too. I think it's the start of carpal tunnel. I get it on the tops of my hands, my wrists, and to a lesser extent my lower arms.

my DH is a software developer. He went to the doctor for symptoms like that a while back and was told it was tendonitis (which apparently CAN turn into capral tunnel, but is NOT carpal tunnel).
Anyways, the doctor told him to lay off any unnecessary typing for a month or so, and to take 5 minutes breaks once an hour from the necessary stuff. He also had him take Naproxen (which is just prescription strength aleve.. equivalent to 2 aleve twice a day) for about 2 weeks.

Ice treatments are a god send as well.

Freeze 3-4 dixie cups of water. They are the right size to rub on the painful areas. Try this 3 times a day and see if you have any relief.

You may also be sleeping wrong. A lot of people curl their wrists when sleeping which cuts off circulation. Do you do this? You may benefit from wearing wrist braces at night.

Also, water retention (pitting edema or non-pitting myxedema) can cause symptoms similar to carpal tunnel as the tendons and such in that area are particularly sensitive to water retention.

Default Tendonitis

I used to get pain in my wrists, and popping noises when I'd rotate the wrists, both especailly bad after any time writing - my Dr said I had tendonitis and had me wear a wrist brace when I was writing or typing, and that helped a lot. Now that I'm out of undergrad and not taking notes for multiple hours a day I rarely have the wrist pain - it was definitely activity related.

Hi

I get this too. I few years back I had it so bad that I had to have my arm/ wrist in a type of support bandage thing for a few months.

Can't remember what it was called though ............. will 'edit' later if I can remember.

Is there a vein like substance when you put your fingure over where it hurts?? Ganglion cysts have been known to attack women with PCOS. I'm not sure if thats what it sounds like because I'm not hearing that you have any vein-like issues...but it causes severe pain.
