Someone from Myspace told me about this site and I thought I would come here and give it a go! lol My name is Carrie and I'm 18 years old, turning 19 in April. My doctor told me last year around July that she thought I had PCOS and gave me some pills to start my period, being that I had never had one. =/
My story is long and I may as well tell on in my first thread / post, huh? lol
When I was 17 years old I went to a local doctor for a check up and basically to find out why I still had not started my monthlys. Well she gave my a PAP test, I never heard anything else from or nothing, not about my test results or anything....Went back saw another doctor, he told me that the old PAP test has some weird results so he was going to send me to a OBGYN, after a lot of test and some painful ones at that the OBGYN told me I had Cancer.....I was shocked......I mean WOW , my grandmother died from breast cancer so ofcouse cancer runs in the family. Had my Cer. cancer removed in Jan or Feb of last year, then had a laparoscopy done, my ovaries are very large and my womb is very small.........Ok......
Finally my doctor sends me to a Endo ( ha ca't spell that long word! =P ) and she gives me blood test after blood test....Finally she tells me that it looks like I have PCOS, my aunt also has this. I'm like well this would explain the hair growth huh? lol
The only bad news is that I found this out right before moved to Tennessee from South Carolina and I haven't be able to see a doctor for about 7 months now......I know its important and well I'm working on it!
welcome to the site... I'm new here as well... I was diagnosed with PCOS just this month after suspecting that I had it for 2 years. I never could find a doctor that would even discuss the chance of me having it. I'm so glad that you overcame your cervical cancer. My last doctor did a biopsy to see if I had that. I am 24 years old and never have had a regular monthly in my life. I've probably had maybe 5 in my entire life.. well, great to see you here and if you wanna talk just send me a message... take care

Hi Teddy!!
I want to thank you for welcoming me to the site and now it is my turn to welcome you! .This site is very helpful andI know the fustration you are going through.I didn't know about my condition until I was stuck with a recurring menstrual period for 2 months. At first,I thought it was due to stress but it got very annoying.I finally got the courage to see my gynecologist.I had explained to him how this period was still going. He done a pap,a Thyroid test and told me I had a condition called anovulation. That is the reason why my fiance and I was not conceiving. After the results from the TSH test came back,he told me I was insulin resistant and my thyroid levels was high. Here I am thinking"this can't be!".As explained,my doctor wants me to go visit him this Thursday to discuss fertility options.
Hope to see you around
Wendy
