Exclamation Wellbutrin...

I have searched through the threads and I haven't found anything on this although I am sure they are there. My Dr. Just prescribed this for me- I have never taken an anti-depressent before- what are some of the stories that my PCOS cysters have experienced on this? I want to know- good or bad please.

I revise that- I was on zoloft a few years ago. I forgot about that...

I take 500mg of Met a day if that helps.

Any insight is appreciated much!

Hi,
I was on wellbutrin for my anxiety and depression. I didn't like how I felt on it. It added to my anxiety. I felt like I had just drank a triple mocha. I went back on zoloft. I was on it about 5 years ago. I am taking 75 mg and I feel really good.

Have you started taking the wellbutrin yet? What are you taking it for? I hope you feel better soon.

I haven't been on Wellbutrin myself, but (as a social worker), many of my clients have and have had positive results. It's not to often you hear about Wellbutrin anymore as it is one of the "older school" drugs.

Bear in mind that a lot of people experience side effects when they start an AD. When I started Paxil about 10 years ago, I had hand shakes for about 2 months, but then they went away. Most of the time the side effects seem to diminish.

Good luck!

I just started today- mostly for depression (job, divorce, etc.) but I also have anxiety. She said it really doesn't help with anxiety but the side effect (aside from sexual) with Zoloft for me was WEIGHT GAIN and she said Wellbutrin wasn't as bad so we should give it a go. I have enough problems losing weight with our lovely friend PCOS I didn't need anything else adding to that issue. I go back in three weeks to tell her how I am feeling.

I am afraid of the anxiety thing too Rosie. We'll see I guess!

Thank you!

I lost my appetite on Wellbutrin and dropped a lot of weight in a short amount of time. I was very depressed at the time too (I lost my appetite when I had severe PCOS depressive episodes). My PCOS had not been diagnosed, and I don't know if Wellbutrin would have been more helpful if my PCOS had been under control. My sex drive went way up - this is apparently very common.

I could not sleep when I was taking it. That was the only problem I had with it. My aunt has taken it for years though and she loves it. She wont even consider anything else. And, she takes it before bed because she says it makes her sleepy. Different people just react differently.

Mandi- (that is my name too, actually Mandana but I go by Mandi a lot spelled the same way) I did tell my doctor I had horrible insomnia and if not sleeping was going to be a problem I wanted non of it. She said 'we'll see... give it a try' so I am remaining hopeful... if the insomnia gets WORSE I will actually never sleep and that can't be good... Thanks for the input!
