Default Went to the doctor for Klaron..got Tetracycline instead

I couldn't get into a dermatologist until September... I asked about Klaron and Metrogel and Tazorac(those are the only topicals I haven't tried) plus the one taht said Klaron helped her so much..and I read its gentle on skin.. I told him I'm on azelex, clindagel (WHICH does nothing at all), and retin-a micro.. he said if one topical antibiotic doens't work none will..sigh..but I wanted to try klaron dangit..and he gave me three months worth of tetracycline? A couple yrs ago I was on minocycline for like..2 yrs argh... Idid not want to be on another antiobiotic..it works somewhat for the infected pimples I get off and on, but..I get a lot of yeast infections and I've been on so so many antibiotics..plus this one I have to take on an empty stomach. IF you took any oral antibiotics for acne..which one worked best? Sigh. I'm sick of acne.

I take antibiotics and for yeast infections i take nystatin tabs. It won't stop them completely but it helps i'd say 90%. If your careful, you can keep them away. By the way I have taken tetrycycline and it helped me. I just got Klaron last night. I will post in a week or so how it goes. Antibiotics keep cysts away but I still get a little one or two by my mouth around af time. They are not real big or anything but terribly annoying. I use retin a gel also each night. My Derm said my skin looks good when I went in last saturday. I loved that comment! P.S. If you can't find nystatin tabs you can take the liquid. This is what the nurse told me but CVS has the tablets.

I took tetracycline when I was a teenager. I think the warnings were take 2 hours after eating but 1 hour before eating. The only time I really found to take it was at bedtime. BIG MISTAKE! I ended up with an ulcer because of it! Just don't take it right before you lay down - wait a while...

good luck...

I took tetracycline a few years back for the major acne i have...It worked to keep new ones from forming but did nothing about the ones laying dormat!!! Like the other poster said about one hour b4 meals or 2 hours after is right..aslo have to watch if you take vitamins..Your not suppose to take them unless 2 hours after and also dairy products inhibit the absorption of the antibiotic..You may also find yourself very sun sensitive..i developed a rash when i got out in the sun...I took this for 2 years and when i went off..not to scare you {just think you should know} My cysts came back with a vengance!!! I ate yogurt everyday and only got a yeast infection once ..thats when i stopped eating yogurt...To me it just wasnt worth the hassel anymore..Since my big ones never went away....
