So I went to the dr yesterday and I asked her questions a bout my PCOS and I asked about my test and she said everything was fine except my chorlestoral and my blood was alittle high yesterday. That is the 2ns time since I've gone there that it's been high. We never took a testosterone test. I asked about to about my hair and she said to go see somone to help with that. I asked if my PCOS is mild and she basically said as long as I keep losing weight I will eventually get my periods on my own. She gave me this med to help get my period and then she said I should take my BCP. She gave me 3 packets. The only problem is I was hoping to bring a pack with me on vacation just in case me and my boyfriend decide to do anything. I don't if i should just try the BCP and see if I get my period the time I get back or take the other med when I get back. Oh yea and she that the reason I have marks is becasue I am doing it. Which I find to be BS. I mean yes I scratch, but I still believe I do get acene on my body which casue it. Another thing that makes me wonder is ..what if I have a cyst on my overies. Maybe thats why I am not getting it. It just bugs me that she never ruled that out. I don't know what do to about my high blood pressure. She said cut out meat that is high in fat. Today for lunch I brought low salt turkey, salad with low fat dressing and a fruit salad for a snack. Anyways thats what happened yesterday.
Well, If I were you I would get a second opinion from a different doc. She should have addressed all your concerns and answered all your questions. As for getting your periods back by losing weight that is sometimes true. But with alot of us PCOS women we need medication to regulate them. I hope you do get a second opinion and please keep us informed. Good Luck!

I was thinking about finding a PCOS speicalist or somthing. She did give me this med to help get my period. It starts with a N and I wish I could remember the name, but it was one of those names that are hard to pronounce. If I saw the name i'd recognize it. Oh yea another thing she did say was that didn't know of any herbs or vitamins that can help with my pcos. That is another reason why I was thinking about going to a speicalist
That sounds like a great idea. I know Metformin has helped many women, I am one of those it helped. Also try taking a womens one aday vitamin with folic acid. It is good for your body. Good luck with the specailist. It took me 4 docs before I found one that would listen. Best of luck hun!

Losing weight CAN help with your period, but not ALWAYS...what happened with me is I didn't have them on my own....but when I started losing weight I started getting them on my own...my weight loss came to a stand still and after about a year of regular on my own periods they just stopped. My doc told me that was because my body "adjusted" to my new weight, she said that happens with PCOS. SO, losing weight does not always fix the problem.
I agree with getting a 2nd opinion. I went through 3 drs before I found one who was willing to help me out and answer all my questions.

I agree with finding a new dr. That one does not sound like she really wants to help or maybe she just does not know the answers but should have been willing to help you find the answers.
