it sucks that your washing machine gave up on you ... When I lived in the States, I didn't have the money to buy one in one go either, I didn't have any credit history, so I couldn't finance one ... I ended up leasing a washer and dryer, which was actually quite affordable. I think it cost me about 30 dollars per month for both appliances together. Would that maybe be something for you - at least until you have the money to buy one?
And hey, I know how you feel about the over 200 lbs ... except the I don't have a reason except fat! At least you can blame baby singleton, I can only blame myself, LOL!
Ladies, I have so much work, it isn't even funny. I don't even manage to go online and READ your messages on a daily basis... forget about posting something! So if I seem absent for days, please don't hold it against me, I simply don't have the opportunity these days. I am trying though ...
On that note, I am finally going home... TTUL!
Tina

Okay, so not too much exciting stuff going on here, just the same day to day. We do have guests coming this weekend, either tomorrow or Saturday, not sure which as they aren't sure which. LOL But we haven't seen them for 5yrs, so should be a nice visit.
I am busy getting ready for that, need to clean out my couch just in case they do stay - might be a stray sock or cracker in the hide-a-bed. LOL
We are also getting more construction done on our house this weekend, so things will really be busy.
Hope you are all doing well!

I don't think your guests would miond the stray sock. Not sure about the cracker though, LOL! Have a great weekend with them!!
Laura,
Oh my. I am not really sure what to wish you - that you are pg, or that you are not. You had been trying hard last year to get pregnant and were distraught when it didn't work. Now it finally may have worked - but I agree with you, it doesn't sound like the right time in your life. Argh....
I guess the only thing you can do is take it as it comes and be happy either way. When is AF due - how long will have to wait till you're sure?
Over here, things are still crazy, so no news there. I had my flu shot on Monday, and since Wednesday I have been feeling like I have a bad jet lag - KWIM? It's worse today, and even though I allowed myself an extra hour in bed, I feel dreadful. I am at work now, and tonight I have to teach flamenco for 3 hours... not too sure how that will go if I am honest.
Tina

Now the two of you would have someone else to definately focus on along with those two boys. Maybe remind you why you got together in the first place.
I just think it is never the prefect time to have a baby. LOL This year was probably the worst timing for us, but at the same time, when does another chance come along? No one knows, and I think with the struggles my DH and I went thru a couple of years ago, this has helped us pull back together. Our DC definately remind us of the love that we share - WE created them TOGETHER, kwim? I hope everything works out okay, which ever direction it goes. Keep us posted!
Tina ~ I have never gotten a flu shot. I have never been sure about it, so my DH and never have gotten them for our kids either. Now with his diabetes they recommend he gets one, but not sure if he will do that or not. I hope flamenco wasn't too bad!
We have had some type of virus going thru us this past week - a "mild" one, but definately upsets the tummy. I think I am the last one to get it. *sigh* But hopefully it will be short-lived, I have people to entertain tomorrow! LOL
Well, this may be too long to post, but will try to do so anyway. For some reason it matters how long of a post I make...not sure why!

My Mood: Points: 7,054.30 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 7,054.30 | Hey Tam,
the flu shot really made a difference for me last year. Before that, I used to get the flu at least twice a year (once during the flamenco festival in Jerez - with all those people from everywhere and all those international bugs flying around, I could always count on a fever and a cough and missing at least one day of classes! ). After last year's flu shot, I was sick for 3 days (which is not much considering that normally I would be out of the running for a week), and the entire year, I really didn't get the flu - a day or two here and there with the sniffles, but not bad enough to really be at home in bed. And THAT was worth getting the shot. This year, I felt under the weather for a few days, but I didn't have to miss work. Teaching was a bit of a challenge, but it turned out alright. Saturday I had class myself, and I was already feeling much better. So if I was you (or your husband), with the kids bringing home all kinds of bugs, I would consider getting the shot. Even if you can't avoid catching the bugs, the symptoms should be much weaker.
I got an invite from my doc as well to ge the flu shot, since I am insulin resistant. I wonder what that has to do with the flu - are diabetics and IR patients more prone to the flu? Or is the flu more serious for us somehow? I wonder ...
I had my second post-op eye check up this morning. Everything is just fine, I have 100% vision with both eyes, no wrinkles or other things on my cornea - everything healed very well, so I don't have to come back till May. Very good news.
Ok, gotta dash - more meetings and stuff that needs resolving ... Have a good and hopefully flu-free, day!
Tina

Keep us posted! | Tam...you are absolutely right. That is what I was thinking..maybe this is just Gods way of putting us back together because we were soo broken..like we fought each other...we said we hated each other...we hurt each other really really deep. What else could bring us back and help us forgive and move on to something else that brings us back together?
I am feeling really + right now but the test I took yesterday didnt show anything but im just 11Dpo today..which is early....but Im feeling really + today...but I am out of test!
Its like I dont know what to think....its getting better everyday..the more I move away from the guy and what I did..the more I am getting back into where I need to be...Michael is getting better and we are learning how to fix the problems. We are working on our communication which was like our down fall. We have talked about it if I were PG...and it would be good for us. Its a total opps but maybe that is what we need to get us back into the remembering why we loved each other in the first place. I dunno...
Well, we will see where we are.
My temps havent gone down..its going up and up...I am burning up and I feel like im PG...if Im not then there is something wrong with me..my temps are like 98 to 99...and when my periods comes it always drops to 97 or 96 and period time should be here today or tommorow???
I need to test asap...with the good stuff not the cheap dollar stuff.
Oh I never got a Flu shot before either...the kids have because they have asthma and last cold season it kicked their butts...so their allergist recommended they get it just in case. I was scared to...Im not gonna get it..but for my boys yeah...I know it sounds horrible. Tina~
Hey, glad that your appt. went well. I am IR also and I have never had a the flu...knock on wood...but I also only get 1 bad cold a year. so im not sure if im the norm.

My Mood: Points: 5,627.64 Bank: 48,120.88 Total Points: 53,748.52 | Tina ~ Anyone with a compromised immune system is recommended to get the shot - although it only protects against the respiratory type of flu (which is why people with Asthma usually get it), not the stomach flu, so you could still end up puking your guts out even after getting the shot. LOL
So, that is why diabetics usually are on the list of recommended individuals - especially type 1 diabetics. I don't know why those with IR are recommended except that they are prone to type 2, so there is probably some consideration there. I don't usually get very sick either, but I guess where I don't have a job outside of my house I tend not to worry about it, kwim? If I am sick I end up on the couch while the kids play - if I am really bad (which has only happened a couple of times in the past 5yrs) DH takes care of kids. Sniffles happen all year long, but there isn't much anyone can do about that except teach good washing habits and keep the doors and windows open a bit each day.
Chris is still not feeling well, just pulled in early from work to crash on our bed which has been completely stripped as I was doing bedding today. LOL Poor guy.
I am glad your check up went well! DH is looking into it at some point, not sure if he will be a good candidate as he has some other issues besides just poor vision, but won't hurt to check in on it.
Laura ~ I am glad things are looking up - it is hard to leave the past behind us, but each step you take forward is always good! And if your DH is on board it makes the whole process easier. I know some people who swear by the dollar store tests, but I have a hard time trusting them - give me my EPT or ClearBlue Easy anyday. So keep us posted!!! This is getting exciting!
BTW I love your avatar! What a great pic!!! And those boys just keep getting cuter!
My news...not much. LOL We had our house guests on Saturday and Sunday, my in-laws were out here to help with our hallway project and it is nearly closed in. We ended up running out of supplies so DH will have to get more this week and then it should be closed in and mostly finished this weekend. At least with the outside, we can work on the inside anytime now. Very exciting!

Thanks,...I took that when I was in my "wanting to take pictures of the new me" phase...but that quickly went away since I almost gained every pound back after all this mess.
But yeah, its still a limbo...I most likely not..but its the not knowing or wondering why I am having such a wacky cycle thats like annoying and killing me. Sigh!
I will check back later!
Take Care!

Tina ~ How are you doing? I know Thanksgiving is an American holiday, but do you have a day for being thankful/stuff yourself silly? LOL
I will most likely be off of here until next week as I am hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my house this year and I have TONS of stuff to get done beforehand. I have been sorting thru clothes and boxes trying to get this place uncluttered and the downstairs is nearly done (except, don't go in my sewingroom!, lol).
HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! I am thankful for all of you and the support you have given me with everything.

My Mood: Points: 7,054.30 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 7,054.30 | Hi all,
no, Thanksgiving is not a Dutch holiday. In the first three years I lived here, I celebrated it just for the heck of it (i.e. :THE FOOD!!!) and to have friends over for a party. Last year I was strictly dieting, so no turkey for me, and this year I am simply too busy to get anything organized and cooked. I work incredibly long hours, I work on weekends and on my days off, and I am too run down to worry about the cooking and the cleaning - and the shopping. I would have had to order the turkey at least a month ago. You can't exactly find one in the supermarket here, LOL! Maybe next year ...
You guys have fun though - and EAT some food for me as well. Coming to think of it. I might just make the stuffing this weekend, it's a meal in itself anyway (at least the one I make. It has sausage, chicken breast, cooked ham, celery, hazelnuts and amaretto in it. Yum. You could almost call it a balanced IR meal... LOL! )
By the way, Laura, I agree with Tam - that picture totally rocks!
Gotta go, my new staff started yesterday (13 people ...) and I am trying to do 15 tasks at once... WAHHHHHH!!!!
So have a great holiday you guys. I am looking forward to Thursday, when for the first time in a loooong time, I will do absolutely NOTHING! Well, almost nothing. I need to choreograph some stuff for a show I dance on Friday. But I am not doing anything work related. Might even go to the hairdresser (which is long overdue, sigh...).
Which reminds me: Do you guys have any experience with Nioxin against hair loss? I know there are a lot of threads on here on that topic, but I don't ahve the time to go searching through all of them for useful info just now. I wonder how important it is to use all their products, and use them on a daily basis?
Anywho - talk to you all later!!
Tina

LOL It was a great time, I had 17 people here (including us) and it was just so relaxing. It was also nice not to have to drive home afterward, we just got ready and went to bed. LOL
It is amazing to me how many different variations there are on foods - ie: the stuffing. I always think of the "bread" kind when I think of it because that is what we made growing up, but DH's family makes theirs just a bit different (probably because my mom tended to cook out of a box, lol). Yours sounds delicious! I seriously need to get over there some day just so you can cook for me.
I haven't had any experience, nor have I really heard of Nioxin. It sounds familiar, but only the name, I don't know anything else about it. Is is something you need an RX for, or is it over the counter?
Well, I just spend a WHOLE LOT of money on a gift for Anna. Chris, Anna and I are going to see the Nutcracker ballet on Dec. 8th. I ordered tickets and they should arrive in time for me to put them in a stocking for Dec. 6th (St. Nicholas Day). I need to find a ballerina ornament to put them in, or at least to go with it as this will be her first ballet. She is going to go nuts! I am just praying that no one gets sick around that time. LOL I can't get a refund and it is something I have been thinking about for some time. We should have pretty good seats and it should be a good time. I have actually never been to that ballet although I have gone to a ballet performance by professionals before - I remember meeting the dancers back stage and the one ballerina we talked to had toothpicks for ankles! She was sooooo tiny! LOL I wondered how in the world they didn't snap. They were very nice though, and it was wonderful to watch them in action.
Well, I am off to bed. Hope everyone has had a good week!

I made the stuffing on Saturday, along with a very poor attempt at Mac and Cheese and some honey glazed carrots. Oh, and of course we had cranberry sauce. It was just the two of us, and late at night by the time we started eating ... Friday was an extremely long daywith work first, then 3 hours of teaching, then a performance and party that lasted till the very early hours... Saturday I got up late, went straight to class (which ended up an hour later for various reasons ... means I could have slept some more, grrrr!), home by 7:30, went shopping and thus finally started cooking around 8:30. But oh, it was worth the wait!!
I haven't gained any weight, luckily, but of course I haven't lost any either. So my bata de cola is still super tight, LOL!
The nutcracker is a lovely ballet. I haven't seen it in years and years, but I do love the music. You'll have a blast, I am sure.
Nioxin is over the counter stuff. Until recently it was unavailable in the Netherlands. When I have some time, I will look through the messages on this board, but I am in a hurry all the time lately it seems, so no time ...
Having said that, I gotta go again. Talk to you later, ok?
