Default What is this?!?!

I don't have bad acne. As long as I keep on met regularly or eat really well, my skin is great. I forgot to take it sometimes for the last few weeks b/c I'm getting readjusted to being back at schoola nd just forgot. I have this huuuuuggggeee zit. But, it's not like a zit. It looks like a big blister on my face. It's so gross and won't go away. What gives? Any remedies would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Tori

Sometimes, I get cystic-like acne. Very deep, very painful. It used to be much worse, but hasn't been in a long while. I still get one occasionally.
Unfortunately, the only remedy is time...........

Tori, it sounds like a very bad cystic acne or a boil -- both of which are caused in cysters by insulin resistance. I actually have a condition called hidradenitis suppurativa where I get those boils on my inner thighs and groin area...they are sooooo incredibly painful...about 100 times worse than a zit. Although I have tested as non-IR I am not too sure about that, because I have read these boils are usually due to the IR. At any rate, one thing that really helps me is to take a washcloth, wet it, and microwave it a few seconds until it's very hot. Then I put salt on it and stick it on the boil. It hurts like a mother for a minute, but it really, really helps to pull out the infection. If it's still bad, you can get a cortisone shot at a dermatologist and it will be gone the next day...I did that right before my wedding when I had one on my face. Good luck!

I have honestly never tried this, but my mother told me it works. For those boils on your inner thighs (I had those so bad I couldn't walk) she said to slice up a raw potato, and put a slice over it for awhile. It too is supposed to draw out infection.

Thanks a lot for the remedies, everyone. I have put hot compresses on it, but I am going to try the hot washcloth and salt thing. I'm at college, so the dermatoligist is about 400 miles away. I think that I got it after I hadn't been taking my full gluc. dosage, I just kept forgetting with classes, etc. I went to the health center at school and they gave me some antibiotics for it.
It's just so huge and gross and right above my lip which is the worst place imaginable!
Thanks!
Tori

Depending on how bad the deep zits are you can also put toothpaste on them before you go to bed. there is an active ingredient that helps it either surface or not feel so bruised. you can also put visine on it to help reduce the redness if it make you self concious. that is better thanclogging the pores more with concealer. gl

Cool, I never knew about the toothpaste... I went to the health center and got antibiotics. They have helped a ton, it's just about gone, except for the scar that I have from picking at it. That kinda sucks, b/c there is nothing that I can do about it except wait for it to get better and put makeup on it. Thanks for all the neat ideas, I'll remember it for the next time... Oh yeah, and I tried the salt water and that helped a lot too.
