Default What about life?.....

How do all of you get through regular day to day....school, work, time with friends and family, going out? I have endo and PCOS. The amount of weight I have gained prevents the doctors from doing lap. I have tried everything from BCP, lupron, metformin, alternative meds, nutrtion, acupuncture, yoga, you name it. Now I am out of school. As you all know the pain blows. How do you get through lifes daily requirements? Please, I feel like I am alone in having a hard time living a normal life.

Awe im so sorry u r feeling this way! (((((HUGS))))

I really wish I had the answers for u but unfortunately I dont!
I may also have Endo as well, its been suspected for 4 yrs now by the drs by me 8 yrs! I went through a period of time about 4 yrs ago maybe longer where I had cysts bursting constantly and terrible terrible oelvic ain which was causing me to miss atleast 2 days a week of work for months! It all just subsided on its own. although I have pelvic pain everyday, its not as bad!

I also went through not being able to lose weight for the longest time all I would do is gain! I lost 35 pounds 4 yrs ago but gained it back and then some! I have just recently lost 11.4 pounds since Sept 28th, with the help of Fitcysters.com(all the cysters from here who wanna get fit and do the bootcamp are on that website, great support), and sparkpeople.com. I have finally found a plan that works for me, I also added in excercise with a w/out video Turbo Jam and the Wii.

What have you tried before? What meds are you on now?

I myself have to take motrin everyday and lay down and rest due to the discomfort and pelvic pain I feel. I guess I just had to tell myself to deal with it because no one would really help me! I hate that I told myself that and i am by no means telling u to do that! I just want u to know we are all here for u! Hopefully some other cysters wil lbe more helpful!

Wishing u luck!

painbegone -- I am so sorry you are having a rough time. I think we all go through tough spots w/ Endo/PCOS. The thing that has helped me the most is just telling myself everyday that I'm going to be happy and I'm going to live my life the way I want. It's amazing how you can sometimes tell your body - get up and work out and you can! The only way I've lost weight is by running and very hard aerobic activities multiple times a week for more than an hour at a time. I've found that Endo/PCOS does not keep me from losing weight - it just makes it a million times harder.

How are your eating habits? Eating healthy is very important for Endo. Especially eating organic food that does not have added chemicals or hormones. For example - I lost 3 pounds in a month (which I'm pretty proud of), but then I went on vacation and was not preparing my own food, using organics, etc and I got so swollen and bloated. It's amazing how much "crap" is in food. (I was also in a bad/depressed mood!) For me eating veggies, fruits, etc elates my mood (weird, huh?).

As for getting through the day....I wear heat wraps A LOT and take Motrin like Chrissy said. I also work really hard to stay on my work out schedule and eat very healthy. This makes me feel good about myself and boosts my mood. I also find the "healthier" I am, the more I can tolerate the pain.

However, I cannot lie - pain is a daily struggle for me. I am planning on doing Lupron on my next cycle. You have to find what works for you - I'm not saying anything above is right for you, but it is working for me.

If you ever have any questions, etc, please feel free to ask.

Before doing Lupron my pain was so unbearable. I lived on pain meds. Everything from Percocet to Ibuprofen. Whatever it took to get me through the day. I work 11 hour days most days, and 90%-100% of that time is on my feet, so I had to do something, and walking around like a zombie is basically what I did. I would also use a heating pad all the time and I would take loooong hot showers, one in the morning and one at night, and sometimes in the afternoon if I had time, the heat helped me a lot.

At my job I also do a lot of heavy lifting, and my doctor told me none of that when my pain was real bad.

I finished my Lupron in June and since then my pain has been mild, but not nearly as bad as it was. I still stay away from heavy lifting if I can as I have a "pulling" feeling when do some heavy lifting. And being on my feet for long periods of time can sometimes cause me some problems. I just make sure I take my breaks at work.

Default Thank you!

Thank you everyone.Sorry but this is long.
Chrissy- I am much better today, the other day was just rough. Thank you for asking. As far as weight loss goes...I was a professional musical theater performer and toured the world until all of sudden I was in constant pain and gain 120 lbs. Leotards don't really stretch with you. So When this all started I did what every dancer does I cut calories and increased exercise. Every time I gained more weight I would cut more calories and increase my exercise, turns out I was starving myself. That was no good. During that time I also cut out all gluten, sugar, and red meat. Then I took an allergy test and found out I was allergic to alot of stuff so I cut all of it out on top of the above restrictions. I stopped gaining weight but hadn't lost any. Currently I am taking metformin, chromium, and alamax to help with weight loss, supplements to help with inflammation, and am working with a nutritionist. For excercise, i am having more and more trouble everyday working out because of the sever pain it causes. So far the pool and yoga are helping with that but still no weight loss and the lupron has actually caused me to gain more weight. I am hoping for a miracle

Olivia- How I eat is above and I totally agree with you on the organic food. I am not always 100% but I am trying and will make a more earnest effort. The heat pack helps me a great deal, but I only have one that plugs into the wall. where do I get a heat wrap? I hope lupron works very well for you!

Kalyn- Your pain sounds very similar to mine. I hate the way percaset makes my head feel but it helps with the pain. Do you ever black out or vomit from you pain?

Have any of your doctors ever offered to remove your ovaries after trying everything else?
I am going to try pure progestin next...I am also going to see a specialist at Cedar-Sinai...but if none of that works I think that is what I am going to do. I just want it to stop. Best of luck to all of you! Tons of love!

Hi, the heat wraps I use are Therma Care.

http://www.thermacare.com/index.jsp

These are GREAT. I wear them for 8 hours under my clothes all day on rough days. I've also found a great use for them on airplanes to decrease the chances of those pesky neck aches.

You should be proud of all you do. You sound very dedicated and doing everything you can. Hang in there
