I just recently starting taking the pill again. I spotted on Yasmin, and now have breakthrough bleeding on Necon 1/35 (hoping it will correct itself-this is my 3rd month on it). BCP's are so complicated. Just wondering what works for everyone else. My doctor recommended Lo Ovral or Nordette, but I've learned that both are high in androgen effect-which scares me.

I use the generic for Mircette (Kariva), which has desogestrel as its progestin - the same one is in Desogen and some others. This one seems to be best for my moods and doesn't give me other side effects, though my periods last a long time (they're very light, but go on for about seven days).
Good luck!

Tried Ortho-Tri, terrible terrible. Mircette saved my life. Then tried Yasmin which was OK but had some side effects.
Now I'm back on Kariva (generic Mircette) with a low dose of Spiro. Ten bucks a month and I'm in a deliciously good mood.
I took that quiz and I'm Curry Flavored, how cool is that?
Well, I'm on my 4th pill so I'm still trying to find one that works for me. I'm not taking them for birth control, we've taken care of thay the permenant way, I'm using BCPs so I don't bleed for weeks on end.
With the Nuvaring I bled for more than a month straight. No good. On to Ortho Tri-cycllen LO. Lots of breakthrough bleeding even after 3 months. No good. Let's try regular Ortho Tri-cyclen. That didn't work either. I bled the third week every month. So now I'm giving Ovcon a try. Of course no BCPs might work for me beacuse iof my uterine polyps. They can and will cause continued bleeding even with the BCPs. If this one doesn't work, it's D&C and ablation time for me. Though I'd just as soon get it over with because...
I was on Demulen for almost 6 years. I was just switched to Alesse. Supposedly it has lower estrogen but higher androgen. I'm a tad worried about the androgens, but I'm going with what my doctor recommended. (Using Vega testing, he found that Alesse would be better than demulen)
