What brand of foundation/base and makeup works for you?
I am reading lots of good things about Cetaphil, and Better Homes and Gardens interviewed some dermatologists (women) and asked what products they used to cleanse their skin, and several mentioned Cetaphil; however, I haven't seen anyone's recommendation on a line of foundation/base to use. I currently use Clinique but was wondering if any of you have suggestions on skin friendly cosmetic lines that are readily available?
THANKS
i used cetaphil and i didn't like it at all,, i broke out even more,, now i use Laura Mercier One Step Cleanser and Face Polish, this is what i finally found that works for me
as for foundation, i've been a MAC girl for 10 years now and i'm in love with Studio Tech, i love the way it covers my humongous pores
Thanks for your response---and the warning about Cetaphil--I guess we all react differently. I am not familiar with MAC or Studio Tech-where can they be found? Thanks again.
I used cetaphil for a while and it never felt like it was cleaning my face...almost left a film on it...maybe that is the way it is suppossed to feel but it felt even oilier...so I use just a basic scrub on my face by St. Ives and I have a base that sprays on. Yep, it is a spray and you can put it on very light (like a mist) or spray some more on for the evening (you get a little pouf thing to pat it down) and no break outs on it yet...I just started it using it a month ago so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Just thought I'd share this...Bibi

Hi, I would advise you to use a oil free or non comegenic (Sp) brand. I have always used "Neutrogena Skin clearing" Foundation, which covers any zits and makes my skin look more healthy.
I love estee lauder maximum cover makeup in the blue tube. It can go on as light or as heavy as you want and a tube lasts forever. I have been wanting to try MAC but don't know if the foundation has any fragrance in it, the web site doesn't list ingredients. I cant deal with fragrance in any of my products.
I use estee lauder's maximum cover as well, the one in the blue tube. I have too many marks from the acne, and this make up covers it very well, without looking too heavy. You don't even need to use a concealer with it. Have been using it for 5 years now.
I'm also a MAC girl - I absolutely love their foundation and concealer! I also use MAC's Studio Tech and I apply it with a brush - no steaky lines for me! I'm supposed to get a refill tomorrow and I'll check the ingredients for you, Mathisk. I buy mine at Nordstrom's or Macy's here in Dallas. You can go to their website to find a location near you. (Now I sound like a commercial!)

I can't use any kind of liquid foundation. When I'm lucky enough to get it on w/o streaking (almost blind here), it just melts off during the day. I use Max Factor powdered foundation. It covers as good as a liquid and is sooooo easy to touch up. I've been using it for the past year with no problems, in fact I think I break out less when I'm using it because it helps to soak up the oil.
I am struggling here! I answered this question before and at the time I had just started Neutrogena skin clearing and was finding it great, however, after a few months of using it I am finding that although it is good on my spots - it dries the areas around my eyes and shows up my lines etc!
I hear that Max factor powder foundation is great, so I might try that.

I love this foundation. It makes my skin look very healthy and also helps with my spots when I get them.

Max Factor Pan Cake for me. Been using it for years. I apply it with a damp make-up sponge, and so I get the coverage I want.
As for a cleanser, I have always stuck by the standard - Ivory bar soap, you know... 99.44% pure! - and a buff puff thingie. I do follow up with Sea Breeze astringent.
has anyone here tried or know anyone who tried that base makeup on the infomercials late at nit the mineral powdery stuff it looks awesome but then its an imfomercial...Its awfully expesive but i was just wondering if anyone knew anything about it!

I personally like Prescriptives cosmetics. It is non pore clogging, non acne causing, non fragranced, and they have every color under the sun. If they do not have a color that can match you they can custom blend it for you. You'll have a recipe and everything. I do suggest to have one of the analysts help you select a color though. I was a makeup artist for that line for 8 years and have seen many success stories with the makeup and the skin care line. It is a very streamlined concept not a lot of fluff that you have to buy into. The price point is reasonable a little more than clinique and less than estee lauder. Around the same as MAC. Good luck!!! Finding the right makeup is really trial and error. When you find what works stick with it.
