Hey everyone, I am starting this thread to find out what other people have found out they can no longer eat while on MET. i just found out the other night that pizza is a no go anymore. i was in hell then next morning. Also what food should we stear clear from. I am still new to MET and am in the increasing stage and learning what i can and cant eat.

I made a Quiche with Broccoli and Artichoke/Garlic Sausage. Thought I was gonna die the next morning and all day.
I have read on another thread pasta messed up another girl and mentioned on that board that there is Gluten Free Pasta, it is brown rice noodles, the taste the same, but don't have all the carbs. you can get them at Health Food stores.

Good Luck, I hear the out come is worth it.

I have noticed that if I eat a lot of raw vegetables with the breads, I do much much better.

Instant pudding is a no-go for me anymore...a 1/2 cup of pudding and 30 minutes in the potty

Wow, increasing doses of Met? My Doctor put me straight on 2000mg/day once he diagnosed me. Talk about being miserable!!! After a couple months of trying that and getting no results he switched me to Actos.I think that might have worked. I also get to eat basically what I want...except for the loosing weight part that is! I HATED Metformin!

I don't really have any "potty problems". I started taking Met. not too long ago and all I've had is headaches, tired, and nauseous. But I ate a Rubin Sandwich for dinner one night a felt like crap! never eating Rubins again!

So I had fresh Pineapple and some grapes for Breakfast yesterday so I can take my met, and that DID not work for me. So I figured I would try again today and see what happens. YUP, NOT good results! Now I have learned my lesson. Not to mention I am kinda upset, I can eat fresh Fruit uggghhh... I love fruit! I will have to keep testing it with other fruit to.

Grapefruit is my no-no. At first I thought it was an allergic reaction because I just started eating them, now I realize its the Met.

If I eat popcorn (not even buttered), I experience terrible gastrointestinal problems.

For me so far the only thing that has been a problem is potatoes. I can eat them, but only in very small amounts. I do better with like instant mashed potatoes I make at home - I stick to the serving size of 1/4 of a cup and do just fine. But I went out to eat this last week with my mom and tried a few french fries and I started to feel nauseous as I was eating. I stopped eating the french fries and the nausea got better. So.. about 5 or 6 french fries is my max apparently. I guess that's a good thing though! In general, I've been cutting back my carbs but this last week I've been eating whatever because my mom has been in from out of town and I've quickly found that things like that effect me.

Hi all of you Met newbies!!

I want to give you hope...you will be able to eat some of your favorite *bad* things again. I have been on Met since July 2008 (I am now up to 2000mg/day). I am able to eat lots of things now that I wasn't able to in the beginning. My stomach shrunk alot in the beginning because I wasn't able to eat alot of things. And now I pay attention to my body and KNOW that a small serving of mashed potatoes won't kill me, but a big one will...see what I'm saying.

Take advantage of the sickness right now! I know that doesn't make sense...but it's harder to watch what you eat when the side effects start going away, lol.

Anyways...good luck ladies!!
