Question what caused these Met s/e? (What did I eat wrong?)

Ok so I am up to 1000mg of Met for about 5 days now with little s/e (just nausea at first).

Today was the second time I experienced side effects and I am not sure why this time (I know why I had s/e the first time- I indulged in McD's)

here is what I ate today so far:
  • a bowl of cheerios w/ fresh strawberries, skim plus milk, packet of splenda ( I know it wasn't the splenda cuz I use splenda or equal regularly with no adverse effects)
  • a light whole grain english muffin w/ i can't believe its not butter
  • oj
  • 1st dose of met for the day (taken while eating the eng muffin and oj)
  • granny smith apple
  • mozzarella string cheese
now it was after the apple and cheese snack around 4 hrs after breakfast that I had to go to the bathroom 3 times. could it have been the apple and cheese?
What do y'all think?

thanks

I have problems when taking met and eating carbs such as breads certain fruits and veggies. Oh and red sauce does it everytime. It could have been the OJ (full of carbs) and english muffin. Also about 1 and a half weeks before AF the symptoms are worse. I've been taking Fibercon and I feel much better. My stools are normal. Do you get that gurggling noise in your stomach before having to go (it's like a warning)? And do you feel hungry (gas) but you know it's not hunger because you have already eaten?

If it were me it would be the OJ (high carbs) and the muffin (carbs - even if they are grainy)...plus my body doesn't like wheat.

If you are going to have juice I'd suggest apple (low in carbs) and mixing it with half a glass of water....I know it won't taste good so I guess the lesson in the end is .... don't have juice. LOL! I just drink water now. Although, half apple juice and half mineral water makes an apfel schorle (a popular german drink)...whats good for the germans is good for us!

I agree. Everything you had leading up to taking the Met was carbs. Only the milk had a little protein, but also carbs. I know it's hard to find protein for breakfast. You might want to try a boiled egg, egg beaters or Canadian bacon with your cereal. Also dilute your juice with water, try some of the light juices (only about 10 carbs in 8 oz), or try eating fruit in place of juice. The IR diet suggests eating balanced carbs and protein, and I think eating this way helps minimize the side effects of Met. For every 15 grams of carbs, you need 7 grams of protein, and no more than 40 grams of carbs per meal.
