Default What are the consequences of going back on BC for a couple of months?

Hi! After many, many rounds of various pills, I am taking a break (since I'm moving to a new city I didn't want to be in the middle of injectibles). Since I have been on NO hormones, I have noticed more and more of the symptoms of PCOS (mainly depression, weight gain and acne). I want to go back on BC for a month or two to even out my hormones so I feel like I have some control over my life until after I move and finish up my travelling (having my wedding in Taiwan in May!)

My question is this- does anyone know if it will hurt me to go on BC for a bit? I don't want to start over with the fertility treatments and just need to get through the next couple of months. My doc is out of town for a while, so I can't ask him yet & thought I'd see if any of you ladies out there in the same situation had ever gone back on BC for a while.

Thanks so much to anybody who has any insight at all!

Jennifer

congrats on your upcoming wedding I am interested in hearing answers for this, as I have thought of it just to jumpstart my period. I have been off BC pills for about two years now, and have just started TTC.

I answered this on the other thread but I will answer it again since the pp would like to know. I always go on bcp's Yasmin when I am not ttc. It gets my hormones back to normal and I have a period. After coming off of them I O the 1st and sometimes the 2nd month off. I come off in Feb took femara in March and I am 6w4d pregnant now. My first medicated cycle but I think coming off the bcp's helped because my hormones were normal. Well I know it helped. Without the bcp's my testosterone goes really high. So the 1st and 2nd month off it is normal and i was able to get pregnant.

let me preface this by saying: everyone is different. but for me, I ended up getting a cyst in the middle of TTC and the doctor put me on BCP. I was devastated because it felt so wrong. But, the truth is, I got a regular period, my hormone levels were evened out, and I got pregnant a couple of months after that. I guess it partly depends too on whether you have periods on your own or not. If you don't, then it's actually a good thing to go on the BCP so that you shed that lining each month like you're supposed to so when you DO get pregnant, it will be a healthy environment. Now that i've had my son, I didn't want to go back on BCP so I compromised and take monthly progesterone which jump starts AF but doesn't prevent pregnancy. Those are my thoughts - but I'd definitely say consult with a doc - if yours is out of town, call their nurse or NP/PA, or the on-call doc.
