Default What constitutes dx of Hashi?

Went to Dr today - she has Hashimoto's herself. She thinks that I have 'just run out of juice' - Aussies are so laid back!
She has put me on Lexapro and selenium (Aust is deficient) and said that it wouldn't be good to have thyroid supplement yet as it might tip me into hyper. Talked alot about diet and she wants me to see an exercise specialist to work out what sort is best for me esp with medical cond's and metabolism etc
Feeling a bit disappointed - so wanted a magic pill
What does it take to get a dx of Hashi? Surely the antibodies are saying this? I just think if i had a dx then i wouldnt keep thinking it is all in my head.
Feels like the last straw and will now have to go part time at work.
Oh another thing she said was that with pcos the first lot of weight to come off is the hardest and then gets easier - opp to general population - is this true or is she just trying to encourage me?
Oh - to have some energy and fizz cause man I am fizzled out.

I would get your Thyroid tested, tests to get Free T3, Free T4, Ferrintin, TPO Antibody, TSH. If you haven't gotten a FREE T3 & Free T4 you will always be told you are "normal".

I was always told I was normal...even with the above tests they came back in the "range- but on the very low end". I took my results to a Homeopathy Dr. and finally got diagnosed with Hypothyroidism.

I am now on Armour - not nearly as tired anymore, and also on Testosterone and Progesterone...He couldn't believe that I was still able to function. He described it as "your body is a fuel tank, when you wake up in the morning your fuel tank is 3/4 empty so by mid-morning you are exhaused."

It's not in your head, only you know how you are feeling...keep going until you find someone to listen. I took me 10 years..
