This might sound like a dumb question but what counts as a period? 24 hours of light spotting (not enough to even dirty a pad, but wipes light red)? What about two days of light brown (old blood?) that dirties pad, but not much? I've heard that only dark red counts. Does that make sense? And if it does, what do the others mean?

My gyno told me any bleeding counts, even if it's light, or brown, or even lasts only a few hours. (So long as not caused by some trauma or something.)
My first non-chemical induced period lasted only a day, that was about 8 months ago. Now I get usually a full 7 days and full blown cramps again every 2-4 months
