Default what is the difference between D-Chiro and N-acetyl?

Aren't they both for insulin resistance? I have heard mixed things about both of them but they *seem* to be for bascially the same thing...
Which do you take? Can you take it the whole cycle?
Where do you get it at?
thanks....
Jenn

Hello. NAC and d-chiro-inositol are both said to lower insulin resistance, but they do so in different ways. DCI is naturally occuring in the body and us cysters seem to be deficient in it. It is naturally occuring in fruits and vegetables, but you would have to eat 30 oranges a day, peel and all, to get the recommended dosage. I supplement with soy lecithin capsules 1200mg 2x/day as they have high amounts of a presursor to the DCI. NAC is an amino acid that is also a precursor to glutathione, a powerful antioxidant in the body, which has been shown in other studies to improve insulin sensitivity. Glutathione alone is not absorbed well by the body, but NAC is more effective as it changes to glutathione in the body. read more at the thread here.

You can't really get DCI. It is still waiting FDA approval that may never come. But you can supplement with Foods that contain high levels of it, see my post at the above thread.
As for NAC, you can get it at GNC or any health food store or online. I take the 3000mg/day that was used in the study for obese patients. I take both the whole cycle, and am as well TTC.
Hope I've helped
