I have a question. I have been on med since May 2006. My doctor has me taking 500 mg aday. I have been having a cycke but the have ranged from 40-60 days. I went to the doctor about 2 weeks ago and discussed my situation and it just seems like he doesn't listen. he had me go in and get a vaginal ultrasound and blood work done. well he never called me and told me anything so i called him and I was only able to speak with his nurse. the only thing she told me about my blood work was that it looked good. Ok what does look good mean?. I asked her this but she still didn't go into details. So then I asked her what they saw on the ultrsound and all she said was that i has cyst on my ovaries. ok well i knew that so i asked her were they big cyst, where there a lot, I mean give me a little more details. then she goes on and tell me well they aren't big and there aren't a lot of them there were an average amount that most women have. So i said well has the doctor gotten a little more clue as to why my cycles still aren't where they are supposed to be or better yet why i can't still get pregnant and she just said no.
When i was with the doctor i spoke with him about upping my dose to see if that helps and he said that he didn't want to do that to give it a little more time on the 500 mg and see what will happen. well I Told him I have been on the 500 mg for 6 months now and ii have lost 25 pounds and still nothing. but he just insist on me staying on the 500 mg for 2more months. My last cycle was on Oct 4th and still nothing. Should i call him and see what i should do or should i just sit it our and wait? I don't go back to him until the end of january

The truth of the matter is, if you read the FAQ thread, many of us need at least 1500 mg as a MINIMUM, so I would definetly consider getting another opinion.
In the mean time, what's your eating and exercise like? I was on met for a year and had litle success...my periods were still 28-70 days and my hormones were still too high until i got serious about the diet and exercise. Those 2 things along with met are WAY more effective and I will never under-estimate them again! It is something really key you can do until you can talk to your Dr or get another Dr's opinion. Lifestyle is huge with PCOS.
Hope it helps!

I agree, that they should go over your test results in more detail with you and I'd keep callin back and well, be a $itch about it, it's your health and you have the right to know what's goin on. Even if your cycles aren't totally normal or on the rite schedule, at least you ARE getting them, and that's a great thing, and I'm sure he thinks that's a huge success. Also, I believe you have the right, to posess a physical copy of the results of your tests and labwork. (I may be wrong, but I've heard that before). That may help; at least here there's lots of information, about interrpreting results and labs values, etc.
Good luck, with however you pursue this. Good luck & keep us updated.
