I am new to all of these things. After my first appt, I get my EOB that says that it doesn't cover preventitve exams. AS of right now, the bills aren't pyling up too bad. But, my DH has been to the Dr because of possible sleep apnea and his says the same thing. His fasting labs alone is going to cost us almost $300. Yes, my DH gets good money working, I work part-time, but there is no way we can pay all these bills with four kids in the house that need food. We are no longer eligible for food stamps. I can get on Medicaid, but it would only cover prevention, but they already know that DH had a vas.
Anyone have any ideas on how they got theirs paid. BTW, DH will need to go back and have another sleep study and fasting labs. I still haven't filled my Rx for Yaz. I don't know how we are going to do it. TIA

Get out your policy and read the fine print. But I would also appeal the denial. That seems a bit riduclous to me. Post this on whats on your mind too. you may get more responses there.
Also - call your dr's office and ask them about it. Maybe they can code it differently and submit it again.

Wow that really stinks! I think Deanna gave some good suggestions, I'm on MassHealth (mass health insurance/medicaid) and they pay for everything, they even paid for the funerals for my son and daughter. I get my tests/appts free and my metformin for $3.00 a bottle.
I hope you can work something out with the Dr's office or the insurance cause bills add up quick!

Financial problems kept me from getting treatment for pcos for a long time, and even with ok insurance, it still makes things tight to pay each time i go to a dr, get labs, meds, etc. I'm sorry i don't have an answer for you, but hope you're able to find some answers. Good luck!
To make things even more complicated, his insurance through work is changing at the end of the month. I will go to the meeting on it Thurs and hopefully find out what they are doing.
I called the ins co. They told me to call DHs Dr and ask to subimt it back with a different code so it isn't preventive. mine don't get covered because of the deductable. So, before I can go back to my Dr, I have to pay $98. That's better than his.
We are thinking about putting some stuff up on Amazon since if it doesn't sell, you don't have to pay any fee like with eBay. And, I will be going back to school in the fall.

Call the doctor/hospital. They should be able to put you on a payment plan with no interest. So, you pay $25/month. They are usually OK with getting something (even if it's a little something). Some insurance is so terrible. Sorry you are going through this. I am paying a TON to our doctors and hospitals because of deductibles and all...they get $50 a month for the last 2 years! Im still a long way from paying them off completely. But..they aren't hounding me or going against my credit score. Good luck.

Dx-2004 while ttc #2
Currently: 2000mg metformin
Not officially ttc, but not preventing!
Just found out today about DHs new insurance. Forget it!!!!! It'll be better if we can save the money he's been paying and pay for everything out of our own pockets. The weekly bill will be going up by $20.00. And now we will have a $2000. deduc. before they will pay for anything. To me, it doesn't sound like it's even worth looking into. I may need to find our own plan.
Thanks for the suggestions.
