Default What do I need to get my Dr. to rx Met?

So I cant help reading all of the success stories of people using Met and losing weight. I think the clincher was when somoene said taking Met puts us on a level playing field with non-PCOSers in terms of losing weight.

Which leads to my question. How do I get my Dr. to rx it? My 1st doc, who actually dx'd me with PCOS sort of skirted the issue of Met as did my dad, who is also a doctor (but not an endo or obgyn) bc they kept insisiting that I dont need it as I'm not diabetic or trying to get preg. Now that I have a new Dr., I want to know what I need to do or say to get it prescribed. I'm having so much trouble losing weight and I feel like this will really make the diff. Esp since I'm low carbing and linking protein whenever i can and I work out fairly often.

Any help would be REALLY appreciated. Thank you in advance

Go to a different Dr. Why should your PCOS go untreated because you are not TTC?

I went through 2 obgyns and 3 REs before I found the right one. My first RE would not put me on met. He told me that if God wanted me to get pregnant I would. Ridiculous.

Please get a second opinion. Met really works wonders for a lot of people with PCOS.

Are your cycles regular? If not, you can always mention that Met helps with that. Otherwise, I agree with the previous poster: Try another doctor.

Yay, my new doc prescribed it. And you both were right, the original doctor didnt want to do it bc my cycles were regulated through yasmin (bcp) and im 1. not diabetic, 2. not trying to conceive.

woo hoo. it was easier than i thought.
