Default What to do for low blood sugar

After I had my son 22 months ago, I developed low blood sugar. It's getting REALLY bad lately and even if I eat, it doesn't seem to bring it up too much.

First of all, what causes it? Second of all, what besides chromium works to regulate it? I have been using chromium for a year and can't tell a difference.
Thanks!

Generally, for me at least, low blood sugar would be the result of a blood sugar surge crashing. For instance, if I had a meal with too much sugar or carbs, my blood sugar would spike up. My body would react by shooting out more insulin which would then make me go low. What worked for me:

1. Small, frequent meals
2. Protein, especially for snacks. I never had carbs without protein
3. Keeping my meals and snacks at the same basic time daily.
4. Exercise
5. Keeping my weight down

I can't tell you what chromium does. I used metformin to control mine. After being ill and losing 50 pounds, my problems have disappeared, so in my case, keeping the weight off will keep me healthier in the long run.

My brother also has low blood sugar and I have type 2. My doc says they are related. Anyway, he is on the exact same diet as I am except he takes in more calories. We are both on diabetic exchanges. Be careful because you don't want to be driving and have a low episode. That happened to him. He said that everything went black, but he was able to pull over to the side of the road. He keeps snacks with him all the time just in case. I hope this helps.
