Default What do these lab results mean? Please help if you can.

Hi.

I am looking through this site trying to figure out my test results, but I’m feeling a little overwhelmed and pretty upset.

I am thin, have about 8-10 periods a year that are fairly regular. I kept thinking my test results would be normal but the endo says they are not. Here are the results. The blood was taken on the 29th day of my cycle, 4 days before my period. I starred (*) the numbers the endo underlined before faxing these over to me. I had a light meal several hours before the test, but the endo said that should not impact the results.

Can anyone tell me anything about what these mean? I don't see the endo again until September 19. He's calling in metformin for me in the meantime, I don't know at what dosage.

FSH 1.7*
LH 10.9*
Prolactin 14.1
Testosterone total 64*
TSH 1.97
Sex Hormone Binding Globulin 73
Hemoglobin A1c 5.0
Glucose 91*

Does your report have the ranges for example 0.1 - 3.5 (made up numbers, just curious if you see anything like this on the paper)?

Different labs have different ranges and measurements...

But based on my own ranges (if they are similar), I can only make a comment about the Testosterone. My lab's range was 16-55pg/ml. So yours would be elevated...mine was 102 (uggghhh).

Yes. The range for testosterone is 20 - 76. So yours would be outside of that. Mine is within that range, but I'm gathering that ratios are also important. Also this is the "testosterone, total," and there is also a free testosterone level I believe?? I don't know the difference. The FSH and LH ratios are ideally 1:1 and elevated LH of 1:2 or 1:3 is supposedly indicative of pcos. Mine's very elevated in that event. I might be misunderstanding something, though. It's all very confusing, isn't it?

ETA: Actually, I can't tell is the 20 -76 number is the range or an age range for an adult female. . . I am so ignorant. Sorry, that was no help.
