Hello all ,
I know that all women have different symptoms of pcos and the doctor will deal with it in different ways but i am seriously lost and dont know where else to turn, dont get me wrong having this site has helped me but call me nieve ( i think i spelt it right ) but i havent a clue what to do now or what to ask . I have brought different books and looked on the internet for different advice but i have found that if someone goes through the same as you have then it can help?
Well after being told that i ahd pcos and the shock sinking in i thought okay now what ?
I made another appointment with my doc and boy must he be sick to death of seeing me by now but anyway i went to see him and he kept saying that for me it would be better to go onto the pill again and this would help with my none exitent periods and make my body think i was having a period - i took the pill for a week but the constant headaches and sickness was enough so i stoped and at present im not using anything anyway the doctor said to me that if i was thinking of having children in the next 6 months then i would need to take my temp every morning to see if i was at the right temp for my body to conceive ? well im sorry but if im not having peiods then how will i know ????
he said if i want to have children then to come back in 6 months and he can start the information on ifv , im sorry but there must be other options available to me . I have seen on some sites that the doctor can prescribe meterfom of something like that , im going to have to talk to my doctor but before i do does anyone have any helpful questions that i can ask him and what my next steps would be as i am soooooooo lost ,
Thanks to all that had the chance to read this and not fall asleep xxx
Your doctor sounds like most gp's I have been to...They just don't get it!! First thing you need to do is tell him you want to be referred to an endocrinologist so you can have more in depth testing done...I had similar frustrations with my gp and finally after doing more research I went in and asked for a referral...I saw someone who gave me more options...The metformin, or dianette, yasmin birth control pills...I tried the bcp's but they made me sick...I chose to try natural remedies instead of the met and figured I would get the met if nothing else worked...I take vitex and am losing weight on Slimming World...I have gone from no periods, no ovulation for a year or more at a time to regular periods and getting normal ovulation...
Seriously, an endo can give you many more choices, I highly reccomend getting referred...
About the ttc issues post on the ttc board alot more people check and respond on that one...I am not ttc at the moment so maybe someone who is has some words of wisdom for you...
Take Care,
Melissa

I'm not from the UK, but I saw your post on the new post thingie and I hear your plight. You must know that there are other treatments for PCOS other than the pill. Doctors are so dense sometimes, Snow White is right you should get a referral from your doc to see an endo. Some medications that have helped other women is Metformin aka Glucophage, Spirolactone and Yasmin a birth control pill. An endocronologist can test you for your hormone levels and see what you need. Many women with PCOS are insulin resistant and many have high androgen levels. Write down any symptom you have that doesn't seem normal. For example, I have extra hair, weight around my middle, missing periods, acne on my limbs and folliculitis. Write them all down and bring them with you when you go to the doc. Also, do a search on this site using the handy search button. Also, do not be afraid to ask any question here, no question is stupid here! Good Luck and keep us posted!

just a quick thanku to snowhite and to disintergration , with your replies it has helped me to get a better picture on the suitation and you both have told me more than my doctor has ever told me,and having the info that u have given me i can now go marching into my gp and bombard him with things i want to do and know what i am talking about .
So a BIG THANKS XXXXXX
BLESS U BOTH .
I agree, march in there and *demand* a referral to an Endocrinologist! Read and read the info on this site before you go. Ask questions, as many as you want but make sure you come out of there with what you went in for.
Tell your Dr to shove temping up his backside the idiot!!!!!
Sorry, it just made me so mad to read the utter rubbish you were told
Thank god for this site!!!!
Andrea.
