What do you do when you are feeling down and blue?
Whenever I am down in the dumps, feeling depressed about my weight, life, work, PCOS symptoms - no periods, hairy chin, acne, large tummy, etc. etc. I try and pick myself up by:
renting movies
going for a long walk
calling a friend
cuddling up with a teddy bear
making a cup of warm tea
eating ice cream
listening to music
watching old episodes of Oprah I have taped where she gives away stuff (the car giveaway is my favorite - makes me cry (in a good way) everytime, and when she gave that lady with 9 kids who worked at Starbucks a new house --- what a tear-jerker!)
What do you do to try and get yourself out of feeling blue?

Reason: Typo--ooopsie!!!
Listening to my favorite albums always helps when I'm feeling blue. I also like to take a hot bath with smelling salts... that always lifts my spirits.

Watch a John Cusack film.
Cuddle my dog; she loves me no matter what!
Go for a walk.
Buying myself a bunch of flowers.
Planning a holiday, even if I can't afford to go.
Listen to music, anything from Chopin to Aerosmith, taking in Beatles, Satriani and Billy Bragg along the way, not to mention many others, I'm not picky!
Playing with my grandson if he's visiting, looking at my pictures of him if he's not.
Cry. Nothing like a good cry to help you feel better.

Bethwyn: Labyrinth is my fave movie from when I was little! I still watch it and I can recite the whole thing! lol My DH thinks it's funny that I still know the movie line by line.
Well, lately when I get depressed, I wallow in self pity! lol I really need to stop doing that. But at other times I listen to music, read a book, or play with my kids. Watching a movie or talking to my hubby helps too. If all else fails, well a lot of times I do THIS first, I eat. Horrible, I know, cause all it does is worsen the cycle. But I am an emotional eater, and I find it very hard to control myself.

it depends upon what kind of depressed mood. i have several plans of attack:
sometimes a good cry is needed -- and a good movie can help with that.
sometimes just to listen to an album i like and sleep/nap for a while (if it is hormones or pms.)
sometimes i need a haircut, including a wash and blowdry. (or buy a new pair of shoes) to feel pampered.
sometimes i need to make a list of all of the good things in my life and then thank God for each of them, and that helps me to not feel depressed about something bad that is going on.
