Default What do you eat for breakfast?

Okay so, I'm trying to be good on the Insulin Resistance diet.... and I don't have a lot of time in the morning. If you don't make a smoothie, what do you normally eat for breakfast?

I'm trying to get a good list going so I have a few things I can choose from that I know are good, and I'm not tempted to eat crap.

Thanks so much!

While not doing IR, I do stick to whole grains. So whole wheat toast is often my breakfast of choice, often with cinnamon sugar. And I don't do coffee, but I do like chocolate milk, so I bought some reduced sugar Nesquick (no fake sweeteners) and I mix it with an unflavoured whey protein powder for 31g of protein. Otherwise I eat Kashi cereal. I love their Go Lean Crunch.

I'm on the IR diet and loving it! For breakfast I usually have one serving of Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal and a low carb yogurt. Some days DH and I will have omelets with tons of veggies and an english muffin. Also an english muffin with egg and cheese is balanced. You could also have a serving of fruit (or two depending on the carbs/serving) and some string cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt or a glass of milk.

The possibilities are really endless once you get the hang of linking/balancing! Good luck!

My favorite is the smoothie, but the next favorite is french toast made with whole wheat bread, and one egg per piece of bread and then use sugar free syrup.

Breakfast here is almost always fruit, grain and protein.

Apple and peanut butter with whole wheat toast
Oatmeal and strawberries with a cheese stick

Etc, etc etc. Lots of variety but always those three groups.

Inspired, that sounds simple enough that even I might be able to accomplish it, haha. I completely can't cook!!

I found this really great organic peanut butter that they sell at Kroger. Its actually Kroger brand and its fabulous and doesn't have a lot of carbs. Maybe I'll try that with some apples.

Thanks for replying!

Breakfast for me is usually a hard boiled egg coupled with oatmeal, fruit, or yogurt. I don't have much time either (work 2 jobs) and this is a quick breakfast that I can grab and eat later at my desk.

For insulin resistance whole grains are good, so I usually have multigrain toast with peanut butter (only ingrediant peanuts!)... for a change when I have more time I have oatmeal - the oldfashion kind not instant or quick oats, or 10 grain hot cereal. I use just a little bit of maple syrup to sweeten it and add crushed almonds +/- chopped dried fruit. Cinnamon is good in it too. The whole grains and less processed oats take a lot longer to breakdown into glucose in your body therefore they have less effect on your bloodsugar and insulin levels.

Real fruit spread? I wonder where I can find that? I've never seen that before.

Raisins and walnuts don't sound too bad. I'm glad to hear that multigrain toast doesn't bother a lot of you. I started off this thing under the impression that all bread was bad.
