Points: 89.87 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 89.87 | Instant oatmeal is not good because generally it has a lot of refined sugar. Refined sugar is bad for PCOS. I try to have one serving of carb with one serving protein. A few quick healthy breakfast ideas:
Monday
Fiber One - Cereal (1/2 cup )
Stevia powdered (for sweetner if desired to taste)
Milk, nonfat, w/ vitamin A, fluid (1 cup)
Blueberries, raw (1/4 cup)
Rasberries,raw (1/4 cup)
sunflower seeds toasted without salt ( 1 tablespoon)
Tuesday
Bear Naked 100% Organic Rolled Oats (1/2 cup) dry
1/2 cup chopped or diced raw apple w/skin cooked in the cereal
Milk, nonfat, w/ vitamin A, fluid (1 cup) or unsweetened soy milk
sunflower seeds toasted without salt ( 1 tablespoon)
Wednesday
4-6 egg whites scrambled with spinach and chopped tomatoes
1 slice of dry multi-grain toast, whole grain toast or Ezekiel bread
Thursday
1 cup of light or non-fat yogurt
1/2 cup of cherries or strawberries or any other fruit serving
Friday
2 Strawberry Flax Waffles by Kashi GoLean
Topped with unsweetened applesauce OR you can top with cottage cheese and fruit
1 ounce of low fat canadian bacon
Saturday Almost Banana Pudding Combine 1 cup of low fat (or fat free) cottage cheese with one tsp of vanilla extract.
Slice one medium banana and add to the mixture.
Sprinkle with cinnamon (to taste)
If you are going to prepare this to take to work or school keep the banana and the cottage cheese separate until you are ready to eat
Sunday
Banna Vanilla French Toast 4 egg whites
2 slices whole-wheat, no-sugar-added bread
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 Banna extract
1/2 cup fat-free milk
Mix all ingridents but bread into a wide bowl. Dip bread into mix, and put into skillet with a little canola oil. Place skillet over medium heat. Brown on both sides. Serve with just a touch of your favorite sugar-free syrup and a large glass of water. On the Go Days or Snack Try a Berry Cinnamon Protein shake 2-3 scoops of your favorite vanilla meal replacement powder
4 oz. skim milk
3 oz. low-fat berry yogurt
1 tbsp vanilla flavored coffee creamer
4 ice cubes
Dash of cinnamon
Put all ingredients in blender and blend on high for about 30 seconds or until the ice cubes are dissolved |

Over the weekend I made some waffles. Speaking of french toast....I have to try to make cream cheese stuffed french toast. |

The eggs are organic omega 3's, the toast is organic MEGA whole grain (with LOTS of flax - great for us cysters) and whatever organic fruit I have on hand.
I do not drink juice, but I find that the fruit satisfies that sweet tooth.
As far as oatmeal toppings: I mix in peanut butter, and then swirl in a few (15 tops!) dark chocolate chips. Adds a little protein and fat, and then a tiny bit of sweetness with the chocolate.

My Mood: Points: 541.72 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 541.72 | This morning, I had 10 grain pancakes with blueberries my sister and I made last night. I also had some chicken & apple sausage (no preservatives, gluten, antibiotics, nitrates or caseins). I used agave instead of pancake syrup. Most of the time, I make oatmeal with raisins or dried cranberries, spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Sometimes I add nuts and I try to use fresh fruit whenever I have it on hand. Every now and again, I have soup or as someone mentioned earlier, dinner, which tends to keep me better than typical breakfast foods. |

Lite wheat toast or multigrain english muffin with either cheddar cheese or peanut butter or pizza sauce and cheese
Greek Yogurt with Fiber One mixed in
Slim Fast High Protein Shake, usually with a couple of berries blended in
A small portion of leftovers, like chicken breast and broccoli, etc.
If I'm not over the carb level, I often add a little bit of a lower carbohydrate fruit like berries or melon. |

Points: 592.94 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 592.94 | I have a hard time getting in a rut with breakfast too. Here are some of my favorites:
1. plain reduced fat greek yogurt with fruit (i like blueberries, strawberries, & peaches the best) with a little bit of high fiber cereal like Uncle Sam and some cinnamon. The greek yogurt takes a bit of getting used to b/c it's not sweetened. When I first started using it I would put some splenda or a little bit of honey in.
2. 1/2 of a WW english muffin with natural nut butter (almond, cashew, or peanut) with a piece of fruit
3. high fiber cereal like Uncle Sam with a cheese snack (I like sargentos b/c it actually tastes like cheese) and llight vanilla soymilk. Also Uncle Sam cereal is good with light chocolate soymilk - I think of it as my version of cocoa crispies
4. Steel cut oatmeal with dried cranberries, toasted nuts (usually pecans or walnuts) and cinnamon. Now there is a quick version of the steel cut oats instead of the kind that takes 20 minutes. If you can only find the long cook version, on the back of the package there should be a method for making a batch for overnight.
5. hard boiled eggs, toast, and fruit. if you like tomatoes and avocado that's also good to add to toast or an english muffin
6. if I'm industrious enough to make a hot breakfast, my favorite is an egg white scramble (or sometimes I use 1 egg white & 1 whole egg), with some sauteed spinach, sundried tomatoes, and little bit of mozzarella cheese. I also like to make my own version of a mcmuffin. I take 1/2 of an english muffin and put on either turkey bacon/turkey canadian bacon/ or turkey sausage with a fried egg and a 1/2 slice of reduced fat cheese.
7. I also like to make up a batch of turkey bacon. You can make up 6 or 8 slices at a time and just heat htem up throughout the week in the microwave. Also, I have found frozen turkey sausage in my grocery store.
Hope these help! |

Points: 592.94 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 592.94 | If you like oatmeal or pancakes, here's a good alternative to syrup or jam. I saw Ellie Kreiger make this as a dessert topping so it's a pretty versatile recipe to have.
1/2lb of cherries - pitted ( I have used blueberries b/c who has the time to pit cherries!)
2 tbspns of balsamic vinegar
2 tbspns of sugar (I use splenda or stevia)
Put it all together in a small sauce pan over medium heat for about 5 minutes until the vinegar and sugar reduces to make a nice sauce. When I make it with blueberries, I usually mash up a few of teh blueberries to get some of the juices to release. 1/2 lbs of cherries makes a lot, so reduce the quantity if you just want a small 1 person batch. This would probably also be great with strawberries, but I haven't tried that combo yet.
Elllie served it over grilled peaches. Just search Ellie + peaches on the foodnetwork site if you want the original recipe. |

I only just found out I had pcos (2 days ago) so I don't have anything to add to the list... just trying to get ideas for myself This morning I had a small bowl of Kashi go lean crunch cereal with 1% milk... at least it's better than what I used to eat for breakfast (nothing!). |
