Question What do you know about the Patch?

I've been on Yasmin for 1.5 years now, but now my blood triglycerides have become dangerously high due to the pill. So my doc wants to switch me to the Ortho Evra Patch! But from all I've read on the web, I'm kinda scared and don't wanna do the patch. I've read about a lot of law suits over serious side effects like blood clots and strokes! No thank you!

So what do I do? I guess I shouldn't continue to take the pill if it's causing too high a level of trigs in my blood which puts me at high risk for heart problems. And I don't wanna take something really riskly like the patch which could be even worse. But if I don't take anything and just leave my PCOS untreated then doesn't that put me at risk of diabetes, heart probs and endo cancer?

This is one confused Cyster! Can anyone help?

I know that the patch is a good choice for many women, but not me.
I had terrible headaches on it and also my heart would race and just pound so hard. It made me feel, well not ill, but just not right. Not to mention how I have scars on my arms form it breaking them out, But I am just one person. It may be wonderful for you. You just won't know how it affects you until you try it. Its just trial and error ya know?

HTH!

I just started using the patch and after figuring out what place on my body it would actually stick to and stay stuck . . . I guess it's ok. However, the hormones aren't as strong as Ortho Novum (which I took for YEARS!) So I've been having some cyst issues. Pluse I'm quite hormonal since I just had a baby and my body is confused. But you might want to try it out . . . for a month or two and see if you like it.

YES... but BCPs don't do anything to prevent that and may in fact increase the risk of diabetes and heart issues by worsening IR. BCPs tend to worsen IR but this is offset somewhat when a woman also takes insulin altering meds or uses lifestyle measures to control her PCOS... it seems that all you are doing is taking BCPs??

It's possible that if you started to take Metformin or another insulin altering med, you might see a change in your blood lipids and be able to stay on the BCPs if you want. Either way it's important you use measures that truly get at the PCOS and don't just cover the symptoms like BCPs do.
