Question What do you know about Yasmin?

I'm currently on Zovia but only have the white pills left. Afterwards, I'm going to start Yasmin. Well the first gyno I saw put me on Zovia, only to regulate my periods. My regular gyno said she wanted me on Yasmin (apparently she must have many PCOS patients) because "it's the best bcp to help with all symptoms of pcos." Well she said my acne would get better, my periods would be less painful/heavy, and that my excess hair would get "better."

When she was talking about the hair though, she said it wouldn't do anything for the hair that's already on my face and body, but it would prevent more hair from growing...Whhhatt? I thought all the hair I could have was already grown out...Can someone please explain this? Also, what else do you know/have you experienced with Yasmin? I'm looking forward to taking it...I've heard about some girls getting depression with it but I don't really have problems with that. Anyways, yea your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ladies!

I was taking Yasmin (just recently went off to get ready to ttc) and it was fine for me. But it didn't really do tons to alleviate my pcos symptoms. For the first few months my skin was wonderfully clear but it was short lived and I started breaking out again after about 3 months. I didn't notice that it helped at all with hair growth. I also had some mild breast tenderness which my dr warned might be a side effect. I didn't have any problem with depression while taking it. I was having a lot of break through bleeding with my last pill and I didn't have any problems with that while taking Yasmin. My dr said the same thing as yours, that Yasmin is a good pill for pcos. So, I think Yasmin is great, but it might not take away all your pcos symptoms.

I didn't have any problems with Yasmin. My OB prescribed it because she said that it caused the least amount of weight gain and even weight loss in some patients. This was without her (or me for that matter) knowing I had (or testing for) PCOS. I gained about 40 lbs. in 18 months after starting Yasmin (not a whole lot of fun for the closet), but did notice that I had less facial hair. Now that I'm off it (TTC), my chin and lip hair has been coming back more. I had lighter periods, no cramping and most importantly, I was regular!!
