Default What do you think????

Okay, I have some questions about anxiety. I started having anxiety attacks back in April. First they tried me on clonazepam, that made me too doppy. So then they put me on xanax. I have been taking that as I need it. Well,I was still feeling anxious all the time and so I saw my PCP about it. Then they tried me on effexor, couldn't tolerate made my heart race so bad. Which I am glad b/c once I did more research on it that is horrible drug. Then they tried me on paxil. I have been taking it along with my xanax for a month now. It is making my head not feel right.........along with I am so tired all the time......along with having depression which I didn't have beofre the paxil and some sexual side effects. So I saw the NP today and she told me that can be normal too have all those problems including the depression. Ok,fine but I don't like that way my brain feels not right, can't really explain it but it makes me nervous. So I asked her if I could try maybe lexapro. My chiropractor told me to ask about that. She said she would be happy to switch me but lexapro is basically the same thing as paxil it was just made 3yrs after paxil. So I am going to start out at 5mg and take it at night. I am really nervous about starting another drug. I don't want it to make me feel goofy....... Anyone have any input about any of this. What about the lexapro???? Did anyone have these same problems with paxil????? Just really confused and nervous about trying yet another drug. The way the paxil makes my brain feel and with the depression I would rather just have the anxiety then this......

Thanks for your help and listening.

I too had the same problem with paxil. I just didn't feel like I was there. I mean I was but I wasn't. Nothing fazed me. My co workers could tell when I had taken it because within a half hour of taking my eyes glazed over and I walked around like a zombie. So after talking to my NP who wouldn't do anything different for me, I took myself off the medications. I am not taking any meds now and still have my issues from time to time, had a bad episode a couple of days ago. I just try to stay relaxed and avoid any negativity. I know that's not really any help but I wanted to let you know you are not alone in the feelings with paxil.

Thank you so much for understanding.....it is really frustrating when your PCP and NP just toss it aside and say well keep taking the med it should help you out. At this point I have decided not start the lexapro. I am really leary and nervous about it after how I felt on the paxil. So I am just going to take my xanax for now and if when I am do for my follow-up in 2 weeks still haven't started the lexapro I am just going to tell the NP that I am doing fine on just the xanax. So we will see. I am spending alot of time in prayer, reading the Bible and focusing on God and positive things too and that is a big help. Thanks again for understanding and letting me know I am not alone!!!!
