Cool what does bc pills do?

My boyfriend came up with a good question...he said that birth control is supposed to help me with pcos, but it also prevents pregnancy right? i guess im kinda confused on how it works and want to have it explained to me

It can balance your hormones while you are not ttc.
For me it creates a shorter period.
I would bleed for weeks at a time.
So it does have benefits; however you need to get more "healthy" while you are on them. Diet, exercise, etc because it really is a band-aid for pcos. It is a temporary fix and not a solution.

The pill works to prevent the ovaries from releasing an egg. If no egg is released, there is nothing to be fertilized by sperm and you cannot get pregnant. Also, the hormones work by suppressing the body's normal hormonal pattern (which involves one egg being developed per menstrual cycle and released for possible fertilization). Some of the pills that are said to be better for PCOS (Yasmin, Yaz, etc.) are supposed to help lower testosterone, which can be too high in women with PCOS.
