Question What does a high LH value mean?

I have been wondering this for a while, and haven't really seen it answered anywhere...i have an LH of 17.3, while my FSH is 6.4, and i have no idea what the LH part of it means. Can anyone shed some light on what Luteinizing hormone does please? And what it means to have such a high concentration of it?

Unhappy

I know its the ratio of LH to FSH that matters rather than the individual values themselves but I can't remember for the life of me what it means.

So *bump* from me too.

I've never posted here before but have been lurking for awhile. I figured this would be a great place for me to jump in instead of doing all the learning since I do know the answer to this one!

LH or Luteinizing horomone is released by the pituitary gland and is a gonadotropin. Gonadotropins are horomones that stimulate your ovaries. LH is responsible for triggering ovulation and regulating our menstrual cycles.

Thanks for replying Nimue_NB...glad you jumped in So I guess if your LH is too high, you won't every release eggs or start a period? Seems like it would be the opposite...that is if your level was low you wouldn't release eggs. I guess too much is a bad thing.

Thanks so much for the replys! Does anyone know if the high levels can cause problems/symptoms if they remain high?
