Default What does the OPK test say after you o'd?

I have gotten a positive for 4 days now on the opk test. I know that the directions say once you get a positive to stop testing, but I can't help it. I know maybe next week I can use it as an early pg test, but what about now? Should it of gone back to negative? Or have I not o'd yet? I am on cd18 today and I did take clomid this cycle days 5-9. Any comments?

Thanks,
Kim

Hey
From what I read and my understanding is that you cannot use a opk test as a pregnancy test....But I would like to kno if anyone else heard different....Netta

I have heard that if you are far enough along you can get a + on the OPK for a HPT. However, did you get a - at all before getting a +? It could be that you should get a different brand or they might not work for you. If you have high LH levels in your system anyway you could test + all the time.

One brand I used before was all - for like 7 days and then I used another brand and got all + for like 7 days. I gave up on it. But I do have some ordered for this cycle. I hope this helps.

autumnleaves: When you got a - for all 7 days and the next cycle a positive for all seven days do you think that maybe PCOS contributed to this factor....that perhaps the 7 days you got - you didnt ovulate and the 7 days you got + you had too much LH in your body to predict correctly...

also i have tried to those kits every month for 2 years and only 3 times did i ever get a +....it wasnt until i was diagnosed in october of 06 that i discovered oh i have pcos thats why....it wasnt the tests...it was me.

Netta And Nikki:...you cannot use a ovulation test for a pregnancy test....it also says so on the box!!!! Just because you O'd doesnt mean you are pg.

and to the original question....im sure using the same logic that i stated earlier perhaps 4 days of a + means you have alot of LH in your body that is messing with your tests...are you on any medications? this could effect the tests.....or perhaps your body is wacked...once i tested and got a + the next day, like yourself i had to test again....and i got a - so the next day....just to make sure i tested again and got another + SO I think its just one of those flukes your body does....

pcos can cause you to get +s all cycle long. If that is the case you may want to chart as a way to track ovulation.

As for the original question I get positives for a day or two and then they turn white again.

Queen Pug- I totally agree it is the PCOS in me. LOL I am hoping that maybe my hormones are somewhat better now and that they may work for me this round. Ha Ha huh. I am going to give it a try anyway if they will ever come in.

yes...it took me awhile to accept it was me and not the tests too!!!

i also fought with the pg tests accusing them instead of me....sometimes you just have to wake up and admit your normal and your not going to be 3 months pregnant before you have a + on a test like some woman say has happened to them....or your not going to be like oh my goodness im in labor? whats going on? because we want a baby soooooo bad we are waiting for it.....everytime we BD we are waiting for it!!!!

its okay autumnleaves i still buy them too!!!!! i hate them, but i love them so much!!! i know people say to chart and thats soooooooo hard to do but to be for sure for sure i suppose this is what we must do...

I was on clomid this cycle. I started using the opk on cd12. I only got negatives until like day 16. I was using the clearblue easy opk sticks. I then bought the First Response ones. I used these when I conceived ds. It was kind of iffy for the positive with the clearblue ones. Thinking about it, it might be the two different kind of tests. I think I trust the First Response one more. I did test again this afternoon and got a negative. I believe that I o'd.

Regarding the pg thing: I talked to First Response years ago and they said that the hcg hormone and the lh hormone and extremely close and the test is sensitive enough to pick up either.

Thank you all for your responses.

Kim

why would a single test tell you that you were pregnant or ovulating? why wouldnt there just be one common test that told you both? if the lady at first response was correct then im wasting my money on pg tests! i should be buying ovulation tests to see if im pregnant!!!!!

WHATS THE LOGIC IN THAT?

Kim,
It will go neg the day you o or so it means you are no longer surgeing. What brand are you using? Have you ever used them before? Like some women have a habit of testing pos no matter what. But if you have had negs in the past and pos correctly I would just say clomid is causing a long surge. Which could be good..who knows

The month I feel pregnant with my twins I had 3 days of Positive OPK's, I am assuming I did because I released 2 different eggs...you may be doing the same..

the fact that you had negatives before hand is a great sign that they are working for you....

you may have caught the surge really early also...

wishing you all the best
