I just started metformin, 500 mg, but am curious as to how much should I ultimately be taking. What dosage is the most common out there?  |

I'm taking 1500mg but its taken a while to get there. I would like to get onto 2000mg if I don't conceive within the next few months. | |

I'm taking 500 mg twice a day. My doctor told me that she usually puts patients on 850mg 2/day, but since 1000mg/day is working for me, I'll probably stay there for a while. I did start with 500/day my first 2 weeks. Hope that helps a little!

I'm on Met for IR, never had any problems with AF or infertility. I started on 500 mg a day for the first 2 months after dx. I've been on 1000 mg a day for a little over a year now. Once I reach my goal weight, I'll go back down to 500 mg a day.

I am on 2000mg. a day. I take 1000 in the morning and 1000 in the evening before bed. My dr. has me on the full dose to combat break through bleeding, not losing weight..., etc. The dose doesn't seem to bother me. I've been on it for years. My fertility specialist once told me that I would most likely be on it for life. | |

I've just been prescribed 850mg/a day for one week and then increased to 850mg/2 a day. I've been told that this is just for 3 months to see how it works and my DR will either decrease or increase the dose depending on how I cope......! | |
