Just wanted to see if anyone would like to share what particular foods they can "actually eat" and not trigger s/e of met? We hear alot about the foods to stay away from....But let's share some foods that mesh well w/ met?
I've been on 500mg of Met since mid-September....Unfortunately I'll forget to take it once or twice a week & then I pay dearly for it....Cramps so bad!!
I'm still trying to figure out what to eat! I almost get to the point of being afraid to eat anything...but I know I need to eat something when I take it!
dont eat any greasy fattie foods and stay out from bad carbs!
stick to low GI if poss.

My doctor has me taking mine when I go to bed. I take 1000mg when I go to bed and then another after breakfast. I don't see much side effects in the morning when I get up from the 1000mg but do see some minor side effects in the early afternoon. Hope this helps!
I think you have a great idea. I am so irritated not being able to eat much that we should continue with your thread and lets tell each other what we eat.
I have been on met since mid Sept and so far I have been eating alot of chicken and tuna, salads, veggies, (i've had cravings for baby carrots dipped in ranch dressing....try it..Mmmmmmm), drinking alot of water and sometimes crystal lite drinks and milk.

Hmm... I was on 1500 a day... or meant to be. Only usually ended up taking 1000. Anyway, I also got told to stick roughly to the GI diet... so lots of wholegrains and fruit and not much processed sugary things.
I never really had too much of a problem. At first I felt a little puky, but that passed. Try to eat reguarly and take your pill half way through a meal rather than before or after... I tend to foget to take it if I don't stop eating half way through and do it.
Carrots and fruit make terrific snacks. Tomatos on wholemeal toast with a little salt and pepper is just delicious! In fact.. I have a craving for that riiight now. Too bad we don't have any wholemeal bread. -_-
Try not to eat anything that's too heavy on your stomach if your feeling iffy, so no gluggy drinks and not too much fat and salted things.
Basically, try to avoid anything that's too processed. Canned fruit in juice rather than syrup with a little natural yogurt is a good snack, bannanas are great in everything (sandwiches, wholemeal pancakes, sugar free cakes... etc) we're never without them. They're also great put in a frying pan with a little bit of vegetable oil or a tiny bit of butter.. it browns them up beautifully and mmm are they tasty. again, with yogurt... i'm obsessed by yogurt.. hahah.
I've found the sugar free range in the uk a little lacking to be honest, but it's getting better. Savory foods are your best bet but try to avoid chips and fried things. the most simple rule of thumb, if it's natural and unprocessed (eg fresh fruit or veg) than it's fine.
