Default What else can go on triscuits.

I need help. I usually put cheddar cheese and salsa on triscuits for snacking but i need more low carb ideas of other things to do with my crackers. Does anyone have any ideas? Cream cheese is good but with what else? I like to layer my crackers but don't know what else to use.

What about chicken salad or tuna salad? They have mayonnaise in them, which adds fat, but if you didn't use too much, they also have a lot of protein.

I love triscuits, too! I'm off to do some snacking.

Do you get regular cream cheese or get the ones with flavors!! Those are yummy!! They have Jalenpeno and Pesto and many others to choose from!

What about some meat? Pepperoni slices or Ham? Have little sandwiches with meat and cheese!

Good luck I just made myself hungry now! :o

I love my triscuits. I usually just eat mine plain.

I agree with the chicken salad or tuna salad. Maybe try putting a lunch meat on them and then some cheese on top and then baking them. They are so good!!

Hi,

I usually put cream cheese, cocktail sauce and cooked shrimp on mine. Very good!!

Also I like to put bean dip and cheddar cheese on them and pop them in the microwave till the cheese melts. Also very good!

I had never thought of having Triscuits with cream cheese. Hmmmm....

I eat mine with old cheddar, either cold or melted. I also like it with salami or kielbossa (when I'm not in the 2ww - nitrates).

How about peanut butter and sugar-free jam. Or sliced tomato with a little dabble of mayonaise or sliced cuccumber. Oh, smoked salmon would be great on a triscuit. Or some imitation crab salad. YUM, making me want some.

What I can't get over are the number of carbs in Triscuits. Something like 14g for 4. I hate to say it, but I can eat several tortilla chips with cheese and salsa and consume fewer carbs. Especially when 4 Triscuits isn't many. Before I was diagnosed with IR, I would easily eat 12 of them with melted cheese for lunch. That's 42g of carbs. That's quite a bit, especially when I was drinking Coke with them.

Moderation is the key, eh. That's why I like the IR diet. I still don't eat 12 Triscuits in a sitting, but at least I can link them with the cheese (or cream cheese... Hmmmm, there is a Roasted Red Pepper cream cheese out now that would be just the thing on them).

Ajani, i admit i am somewhat ignorant to their carb content. I do the sugarbusters plan and you don't count them but you are supposed to practice not overeating. I eat triscuits all the time for an after work snack. I am going to have to keep it to a minimum now that i know about the carb content. ALso, i eat those small triangle ones. i don't know if they are less or not, i hope so.

Small triangle ones? Hmmm, we don't have those here. They sound interesting. Do they have the nutritional info on the box? I'd love to hear the carb content of them.

Cream cheese blended with finely chopped olives, either black or green, is great.
Any nut butter would be fantastic.
Summer sausage slices with horseradish sauce would be delicious.
Dipping into a sour cream-based dip would be delicious but not very nutritious.
Egg salad--yum!

They are called Triscuit Thin Crisps. Triscuits are whole grain like Wheat Thins, so the carbs in them are good for you. Just eat in moderation like you would anything else. Here is the Nabisco site and what they recomend for toppers and dips for the reduced fat Wheat Thins and Triscuits. Toppers and Dips
