Your doc is upping the meds because he/she is trying to get your body to a certain level. It has taken me a year of upping to get to my current tsh of .75 (I have hashimoto's). Be patient. It takes time. Every body is different. Are you still experiencing symptoms or have you started to feel better with each adjustment? |

My Mood: Points: 309.84 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 309.84 | Yes I have Hashimoto's - I have been on meds now for over 2 yrs - and it just keeps getting upped. (BTW- I am on 150 not 175) although I am sure next month I;ll be upped. I actually avoided my labs for 9months last year cause I just didn't want to deal with being upped again. I just want it to stabilize.
Oh and yes I do feel better with each adjustment - so I know it's working - I just wish I could skip the titration. |

My Mood: Points: 3,983.89 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,983.89 | Most doctors believe the optimal tsh for hashimoto's patients is around 1.0. It sounds like this is where your doctor is trying to get you. I am on 125 of synthroid and my last tsh was .75. If this is what you doc is trying to do (and it sounds like it is) he/she is just trying to get the right meds to you. Too much synthroid can make you go hyperthyroid. Slowly upping is the safest way. Skipping those appointments did put you behind in getting your body to euthyroid. Please just hang in there a bit. Once your body finds the level of synthroid that gets it to euthyroid it may even take a little longer for you to feel the full benefits of being euthyroid. (euthyroid is a state of "normal" thyroid function) Thankfully my doc has explained all of this to me. If you have any more questions feel free to ask me. |

My Mood: Points: 96.19 Bank: 3,750.20 Total Points: 3,846.39 | Well, I have been struggling with Hypothyroid since 2-2003... 2 weeks ago, after 5 years of doctors who had nothing to tell me, but to "deal with it and be sure to take my meds everyday" (even though I did) just diagnosed me with Hashimotos.. ERRR!
My TSH was 27.6 and the month before it was 2.43.... It keeps bouncing, and I know it does that, but I have know I had this for atleast a year and have tried to convince them that this is true, but I am wondering if it maybe isn't something to look into that I get put on a T4 replacement too (since all of T3 comes from broken down T4).
What do you all take who has hashimotos?

My Mood: Points: 13,184.92 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 13,184.92 | These are my last labs, I've since had my meds upped: T-3 Uptake: 25
T-4 (Thyroxine) total: 6.8
Free T4 Indext (T7): 1.7
TSH, 3rd Generation: 25.64
TSH: 9.4 Usually I'm SO lost with my labs, so I joined this other forum probably a year ago, they are SOOOO good with lab results and questions: http://thyroidhost.proboards30.com
Then when I was diagnosed with PCOS, a member sent me here to SC!
Prior to this, my 1st labs I still have record of were: T-4 (Thyroxine) total 7.7
TSH 13.87
This was a few years after being diagnosed.
