Although dh & I plan do one more ivf cycle we have decided to begin the adoption process as well.
At the end of the month we have an appointment for an intake visit from our intake worker.
What can we expect???
I am totally clueless to everything to do with adoption.
I don't know if they just have sign papers, explain things to us or what.
If someone could please shed some light of what to expect I would appreciate it.
Thanks.
Our intake meeting the first time around was when we met with our agency director and went over all the forms we needed to fill out. We also knew we were going with China so we signed any papers we could to start the ball rolling.
This time around we skipped intake since we already knew what to expect.
HTH!

We went to the office (ministry) for our intake, it was with a bunch of other parents, just describing the process, answering questions, helping us decide if it was right for us.
good luck, it will be a breeze!

We have opted to try public adoption through the Childrens aid.
We called them in September about begining the process but they had to wait till we moved to their jurasdiction to get the ball rolling.
We truly are clueless with the entire adoption process so any advice is appreciated.
I guess the intake visit will answer alot of questions that we have but I can't help but worry till then.
I'm just as clueless so I'm learning as we go I have no clue about any other adoption than China now though...sorry can't be of more help
Good Luck!!

i am pretty sure you are Canadian if i remember correcly. Very simular process to what i went through.
The impression i get is they will ask you a tone of questions and try to get an idea of what your "desired child" is. If they have a large amount of children who may match your profile, you will be prioritized to have a home study done. kwim?
feel free to email me, if you want, or just need to chat. good luck alniven@shaw.ca

Thanks Lisa,
I am in Canada...Markham, Ontario to be exact.
We were told that if we wanted a special needs child the wait would be minimal and the younger we want the longer the wait.
I have a bunch of questions so I will try to email you this week when I have a little more free time.
