Post What facial wash works for you?

I'm trying to find a good facial wash. I've had acne since I was SIX YEARS OLD!

My skin gets oily, but at the same time is flaky on the forehead where it's dry (no acne is ever on my forehead, other then the occasional blackhead.)

I get it on my checks lightly, but mostly my outbreaks are alone both sides of my jawline, or even on my neck just below, and my chin.

I've tried lots of different things but nothing has ever worked for me, so I guess post what you use and how well it works for you, if at all.

Lately I've tried Mary Kay Timewise which is supposed to help prevent aging and help with acne, but it really hasn't helped me at all.

I've found two products that have worked pretty well for my oily skin/acne: The first is the Zenmed acne system (http://zenmed.com). I stopped using it when I started TTC because the herbal pills aren't proven safe for use during pregnancy. Recently, I have started using Burt's Bees tomato soap http://www.burtsbees.com/webapp/wcs/...ubCategory=yes) and blemish stick (http://www.burtsbees.com/webapp/wcs/...bCategory=yes). My face has really been clear, oil-free (but not dry at all) and looks really healthy.

Hope that helps!

Whew that Zenmed is expensive. The soap looks interesting, I may have to try it.

Do you get any breakouts and has it minimized your pores?

The Zenmed is pricey, but it lasts over a month if you don't overdo it. I still have an occasional blemish since starting the Burt's Bees products, but the blemish stick takes care of them within a day or two (I use it am and pm after washing my face). I don't know that it's minimized my pores by a lot, but my skin looks healthier overall, which means they aren't quite as obvious (does that make sense?!).

It makes sense. I think I'm going to try it and see!

I hope it works as well for you as it has for me. Good luck!

PS: I can imagine how easy it was to spend $50--they have so many interesting products!

Ever since I started using Tea Tree oil to clean my face I have not had any break outs. I buy my things at Trader Joes. Don't know if there is one close to you or not. I buy the face cleansing wash and the little pads to wipe my face with after. All made from Tea Tree.

i personally like st. ives apricot scrub for oily/acne prone skin. i use it daily and hate it when i run out! it makes my skin feel really clean and refreshed. also, it's only about $3 at just about any wal-mart or whatever. hope that helps

Sinnie--I realized while getting ready this morning that there is one more product I'd recommend: Biore Pore Minimizing moisturizer. I started using it around the same time as the Burt's Bees products, so I think all three are working together to give me the smooth, clear, healthy skin I'm currently enjoying. Again, i don't think my pores are terribly smaller, but my skin is really smooth and this is one of the first moisturizers I've found that doesn't leave my naturally oily skin greasy by mid-morning. And it has an SPF 15, which is great. It's kind of expensive as moisturizers go (about $12 for 1.7 oz), but you don't use much at all. Here's a link to it: http://www.drugstore.com/products/pr...-PLST-0-SEARCH

I actually ordered these from Burts, so we'll see. The descriptions on the site were written by a sales genius, makes me want to buy one of everything.

Radiance Day Creme
1 Garden Tomato Complexion Soap
1 Garden Tomato Toner
1 Peach & Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub
1 Pore-Refining Mask

i really like Desert Essence line of face wash. (http://www.desertessence.com/pages/skincare.html) I used to use their Thoroughly Clean Face Wash with 100% tea tree oil and Awuhpi (sp?) when i had a lot of acne issues but now that's tappered off some and I use their Sea Kelp one. They're not too expensive and I have found them in the health food section at Fred Meyer and pretty much any supplement supplier (Helen's Health Foods, Super Supplements, etc).

I also use the st. ives apricot scrub to get the GUNK out then I use nutregena (prob spelled wrong but i'm too lazy to get up and go look lol) deep clean (feels sooo good). Then witch hazel from C.O Bigolow (from bath and body works.) it's way less harsh than most astringents. Then top it all off with Olay sensitive skin fragrance and color free lotion. Once a week i'll use Biore pore strips which helps a TON in the black head department.

I just started using clearasil ultra face wash and clearasil ultra vanishing acne treatment cream. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and man it cleared my face up real quick!

I got my Burts Bee's stuff today. I love how fresh the stuff smells! I could even smell it before I opened the box.
I used all of the products and love how they feel and smell. Lets hope they work on my acne and clear up my complexion!

I've honestly don't think I've bought anything so nice for my face, that feels so natural too.
