Default What is going on with my body?

As many of you know, I passed my baby on 5/27. I've had bleeding since then. It had tapered down to not even spotting onto my pad, just a little on the TP when I'd wipe. Now today I noticed slight tenderness in my breasts and now I'm having cramping and light/moderate flow with some small clotting. They think the baby died around 5 weeks ago... so could this be my period? Could I really have ovulated with my hcg still so high? I've now been having bleeding/spotting for nearly THREE WEEKS STRAIGHT! I'm so confused, and I think my body is, too!

Hi Devon, so sorry for your loss

I had a m/c at 7 weeks in April, I bled for 9 days and then 3 days later AF arrived, so i can happen pretty quickly, it's just more unusual

It can be your period. I had a similar experience after my later loss. I had "lochia" which is post partum flow, and it dwindled down to almost nothing at three weeks. Day 21 after delivering Mary Catherine, a real AF showed up to get things started again. I was shocked, but it is indeed possible. That AF started my shortest cycle ever, 35 days.

Devon- I bled for 3 weeks after my natural m/c but it dwindled down to spotting. Personally I would let your doc know. You may need an u/s to make sure that everything has passed from your m/c and that can help determine that it is AF and not tissue left that is causing the bleeding. My doc told me that if I bled for more than 2 weeks then she wanted to know about it. I hope it is AF.

I'm sorry for your loss. Have you had your hcg level monitored? I hope it's AF. I bled for 8 weeks only to find out the sac was still in there.

Well, it wasn't AF, just residual bleeding I guess. But I got great news today. My hcg is back to normal, and I don't need to have it tested anymore! My intuition was correct... the evening after my last test I passed a very large clot that looked like it was also tissue. My doctor must have missed part of the placenta.

I think this is one of those very rare times when I'm actually looking FORWARD to AF. It will be a sign that my body is getting back to "normal" or as normal as my PCOS body can be.
