Default What happens if...?

I was wondering while reading the article "Do I have PCOS?" what would happen if I go in a test negative for it? I mean I honestly would feel disappointed because that would be like the answer to my questions of: "Why do I have irregular periods, so much hair on my abdomen, breast, thighs, face and other areas? Why are my estrogen levels real high and my testosterone normal? What gives with the horrible cramping?"

What happens if there is no answer to my questions? I'm worried that it won't be it and that there is no reason for all of my issues. As far as I know no one else has this problem when it comes to PCOS. I know the females on my dad's side of the family all have a degree of hirsutism. I seem to be the worse off though. . There is a history of high blood pressure and heart problems, but I have had none of those problems. My grandma has diabetes but it was brought on by her diet and she like many Portuguese women has a very hairy lip. It seems very normal for our race to have hairy women. But no one else has the menstrual problems. I looked at other similar things, but I don't have any of the symptoms.

I was tested when I was 13 due to my hair growth, but I believe it was only the testosterone level, which the Endo said was normal. She said the hair thing was hereditary. Once she put me on the pill the hair growth was lessened and my period was normal again. She had also prescribed other meds for it as well, I don't remember the names since it was sooooo long ago.

Either way I'm just wondering what it could be if not that? Has anyone ever had this problem or might know what has similar symptoms?

Thank you for your time.

The only place to start is from the beginning. Sounds like you've gotten your research well underway, which always helps. I know I had anxiety while waiting for my test results, what if I have PCOS? What if I don't? My best suggestion...take a deep breath, get the test done, find out the results, and go from there. If the tests say you have PCOS, you have a starting place for treating it. If the tests don't show PCOS, they may point in a different direction, you have the right to expect your doctor to help you find answers. If the doctor isn't willing to help, you have the right to find a new doctor.

Best luck, will be thinking about you.

Thank you everybody! I'm a bit better now. Today a co worker told me that he might know and Endo that he can recommend to me.

Luckily at work we had a Union meeting, so I mentioned my insurance problem. Of course later on after that I found out that 6 new Unit receptionists are being laid off. I'm a new unit receptionist so I'm worried. I know the other 3, so I'm worried. Because I knew the other 3 that started working at the same time as I did. I unfortunately have no seniority in my department so now that is something I have to worry about.

Well either way, I'm hoping that everything irons itself out.
