Smile What happens if you miss a dose?

I'm just wondering what happens if you forget to take your Met? I haven't yet, but incase I do I would like to know what I should do.

Hey Samantha! I just take it when I remember...or if I totally space out and don't remember til the next day...I just don't take that missed dose. I just go on to the next one. Same as most meds I guess. Good luck!

Yeah, I don't think one missed dose is anything to get worked up about.

Shoot, there's times in my crazy life I forget about taking anything for weeks at a time! I think it's because subconsciously I *DESPISE* taking pills! Gee, and I sit and wonder why the met isn't doing it's job...well it's not going to sitting in the medicine cabinet, is it? LOL I need to invent a liquid metformin...I'm much better about taking liquids over pills. Hmmmm...maybe I'll get rich doing something like that!

HaHa! I wish there was something to take other than these pills!! They are huge! I've only been on them for 4 days and I really cant imagine taking them the rest of my life! They need a shot that I can get once a year or something! I am horrible at taking medicine, I never remember to take it at the same time every day. Thats why BCP never worked for me! I'm hoping I will just start remembering to take these with food!

You totally get use to taking the pills, trust me! I have been on it almost 4 months and, at the beginning, the pills made me gag. Also, I ran out of pills once so I could only take 1000mg (when I was on a 2000mg dose), so I worked back up over the next couple days to the 2000mg. I had no side effects.

Metformin isn't time released so it's best to spread it out as best as you can throughout the day. If you miss a dose, there's no need to freak out. If it's still close to the time you normally take it, go ahead and take it as soon as you remember, but if it's getting too late in the day, just take your next scheduled dose. Missing a dose here and there will not harm you. We all forget sometimes! The only time you may have a recurrence of side effects is if you are off it for some time, (like weeks or months). Eventually, you will get in the habit of taking them regularly!
