Default What happens on increase of levo?

My doc and I have just discussed increasing my dose from 50 mg to 75 mg. I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any adverse reaction to increasing their dosage?

or for that matter any positive reaction....she cautioined me that weight loss might be a side effect, I think she thinks that's a bad one, i can't sai I agree, but hey we'll see.

Thanks in advance for the input.

Default I can't belieive

that no one out there has ever had their dosage of levo raised. I keep asking questions but no one answers. I thought maybe if I participated it would get better.

But apparently you've got to be in some sort of clique to get a response here. It's a shame, I thought this would be the one place people might be helpful.

the board has been down for some people while it changed a bit. don't worry about it. Also the thyroid area is not terribly chatty or popular.

When my dose was increased from 50 to 75, I felt a little less tired a few weeks later. That's all. I'm not sure there are any adverse reactions unless the dose is too high, in which case you would have symptoms like hyperthyroidism and your doc would take your dose back down.

i had my dosage increased and noticed higher energy and a little weightloss with working out. My thyroid blood levels increased as well. I am going in a few weeks for more blood tests to see if I need to continue taking it.

Sometimes with an increase of levo you can have a racing heart, anxiety, weight loss, feel hot, hair loss...pretty much the hyperthyroid symptoms. Each time I had an increase I would notice heart palps for a day or so and an increase in hair loss for about a week. After my body adjusted to the new level, I would usually feel much better...more energy and my skin wouldn't be so dry. Hope this helps!

(I would have answered sooner but I had surgery on the 13th and am finally getting back around to logging on regularly)

sorry your question didn't get answered sooner. I haven't been around much and just recently came back to soulcysters after being gone a few months. I just had my Levo upped over the summer from 100mcg to 150mcg. At first I was scared to take that much but I didn't notice anything right away it took about 3 weeks before I felt better, muscle cramps spasms went away, hair stopped falling out, less tired. I never had any of the heart racing or palpitations (sp). I didn't have any weight loss either. Dang it!! I was gaining and now am just maintianing. I'm going to have to actually work on that, I guess.

i take synthyroid, but with my first prescription they gave me levo. I started at 100, then they upped to 137 and I had HORRIBLE reaction for three weeks- which included hot flashes, rapid heart beat (which made it impossible to excersize or do much of anything), excess sweating, anxiety- basically as someone else said hyper. They bumped it down and 137, 6x a wk, and i felt better. they are actually looking to up my dosage, except this time they are doing it gradually
sorry you post got missed for a little while, but it happens. Im pretty new here and havent really noticed it being clicky.
