Default What happens next

Today I am starting cycle 6 of clomid. What happens after this, if this doesn't work. I do not believe that my doctor is going to put me another 3 rounds of clomid. I am on 100mg. Do they usually increase after this? I honestly just want to know what is usually the next step if the clomid and metformin do not work. I guess the one good thing is that I am ovulating, but it is not resulting in pregnancy.

The next step could be one of a few... They may want to start you on injectables, gondatropins or may reccomend going to IVF. Also I notice in your signature you are on 1000mg of met. SOmetimes things do not kick in until your dosages are increased. For instance, nothing happened with me unitl I was at 2000mg of metformin. Whn I was on clomid nothing happened until I was on 150mg. But, everyone is different and I wish you the best of luck with everything.

All the Best,
Ashley

for me, it took an IUI on top of the clomid. That may be an option for you.

How do they know you are ovulating? I would say up your dose of met. to 1500mg. Im surprised that you are on your 6th month of CLomid and only on 100mg. Usually they will up it to 150mg. The thing is that you may be technically ovulating, but not good enough ovulation to get pg (I've heard of this before). The next step would be injectibles and IUI. However, I would ask about upping your metformin to at least 1500mg (it is the lowest recommended dose). Good luck.

Krissy - I was told by my RE that 6 rounds is the most they should do at a time for Clomid and then it would be on to injectables. However i agree with Kotzurk that I needed to have IUI's with Clomid because for a lot of women it changes the consistency of the mucus and the little guys can't get there. Have you ever had a post-coital test once you were on Clomid?
Good luck, I got pregnant on cycle 6 with my first child!

Andrea
