Thumbs up what I recommend to all for skincare

OK I don't have acne (anymore) but I had to share this tip with all my cysters. I'm a bit of a hardcore product junkie.. not just for face stuff, but I love buying, testing, and researching products in general. I also work for a magazine and we're always trying stuff out, hence my passion.

Anyway -- I've always had PCOS related acne, and while yes you have to get your hormones in check.. as for the gross skin that's left in the wake of your raging hormones, I have found one line of products that has literally changed my skin. It started when I was at borders looking for reference books for skincare products. I found this amazing book called "don't go to the cosmetics counter without me" or something. It's by this woman who tests thousands of products, lists their ingredients and effectiveness (while recognizing all the different skin types) and such.

A couple years after her book this woman came out with her own cosmetic and skincare line as an answer to her lack of satisfaction with things like proactive, expensive dept. store products, etc.. and though it's kind of under the radar.. i really suggest you check out this book if you love products.. OR if you just want to cut to the chase and buy something for acne or even dull skin, seriously TRY her skincare sets. I have the facewash, lotions, beta hydroxy exfoliator and skin treatment lotion and I never break out anymore, not even with my period. the packaging and website and everything is rather dull and unimpressive.. but when you try these products which have the best of the best, most simple ingredients.. you will be pleased. i have always recommended these to friends and everyone loves them. everything is explained in great detail on the website as well so you will have no problem choosing products. anyway.. check out the website. as I said I no longer need to acne products but I still use her face wash and exfoliant lotions. the skincare sets are the best value but it's all affordable. excellent stuff. had to share this with my cysters!

I have been using PC for a little over a month and I am still getting acne. My skin feels a lot smoother than it did with Proactiv, but I will always have one or two large cystic pimples on my face, usually more. I use the cleansing wash, 2% gel, toner, acne fighting lotion, and mositurizer. I am about to give up on this product for my acne care. Maybe I need to adjust what I am using from her line. How long did it take to see a difference for you???

you might have to adjust specifically what you are using, and also the order you are using it. You are using the BHA right? Use that in the morning after cleansing followed by moisturizer .. then use the acne fighting lotion in the evening, followed by moisturizer.

Have you read on the website specifically which products and order of use are best for your skin type? there are very detailed explanations there. either way -- it takes at least 2 mo's for the effect to be fully noticeable. these products are much less harsh and take time but work in the long run. while i know each skin type is individual .. i have not seen a better product out there (even prescription) that people use and have results with, especially with long term use. feel free to PM me if u have any ?s .. i know i sound like i'm totally touting these products but as i said -- we try tons at the magazine and with my own experience with acne as well as others' .. i give this a thumbs up.

I will check out the order I am using things. Right now I use the cleanser, then toner, then BHA, then blemish lotion and then moisturizer! lol. Morning and night. I may be doing overkill. I think it has reduced the amount on my face, but the large cystic acne is driving me insane!! I am not giving up on it yet. I will hang in a bit more!

hang on a touch more but also make sure you are doing the right order, not overdoing .. etc. i always did exfoliant in the morning and acne lotion at night. i guess i just felt that using them together didn't allow each to act on its own enough. good luck!

p.s. i think u can email that lady and explain your case & ask if she has any specific suggestions.
