Hey girls!!! I have finally convinced my husband that it's time to adopt

But he is a very private person. We know that the adoption agencies are going to want to know everything about us. He's fine with it, but he would like to know what kind of financial info. are the gonna want? We own our own business so will they want Tax Returns, Bank Statements, Credit Checks or what?

We are so new to this process and everything is sooo overwhelming (all of this is on the heels of a failed IVF cycle). I'm just in the info. gathering stage at this point. I still need some time to heal.

We're adopting from China so it may depend where you're adopting from.

We needed the last 3 years tax returns as well as:

Here's what our financial form asks for:

DH owns his own business as well and was really nervous. We didn't need to give any bank acct info or anything like that. Originially I thought we'd need to give them copies of bank statements, credit card bills, etc but we didn't need to. It was a 1 page form and 3 years tax returns. I really think it depends on where you're adopting from and what agency you use though b/c we have a different agency for our home study and it was a completely different form but needed about the same things.

For Colombia we only needed net worth and the last year's tax returns. However, our homestudy agency required pretty much everything Traci just listed to do the homestudy. I think they only asked for 1 year of tax returns though.

congrats on choosing to adopt.. between the domestic homestudy and the international part of the adoption.. they will pretty much know everything financial, personal and unusal about you. we are put under scrutiny that biological parents wouldnt understand but its will be worth it in the end.
