I have read all over the place on the boards about ovulation pain and cysts popping type pain, but I have yet to read about any pain like the one I often experience. I am very sorry if I sound confused, but it is such an awkward pain it is hard to describe.
Basically, I know it's not ovulation because I usually get it too close to my period for it to be that (if I even ovulate for that matter) and I don't think it is a cyst bursting because it doesn't seem to fit the description of what others have experienced.
I will try to explain and maybe you can shed some light on it, hopefully!!! I am on met and my periods have become regular, but since this happening, when I have a period off of my left ovary I KNOW IT. It is the worst period and the first day or two are extremely painful. But the key to my knowing it is going to be the left ovary is this pain I get roughly a week or so before. I will just be in the grocery store, or driving home (no set time of the day) and it strikes. It is the most breath taking pain. It is quick, like I could never get anywhere before it subsided. But it radiates from like the tip of my pelvis right down into the most lower part of my pelvic area and it just feels like it is in the bones it is so sharp. My husband has seen me go through it before and caught sight of my face and he was like are you alright? Then poof it's gone as quick as it came. But it is a very rigid pain.
I am going to make a bigger deal of it than I have before when I go for my smear, but in the meantime, just to put my mind at rest or at least so I can start researching, do you ladies have any ideas? Does anyone else get this? Please give me any advice/similarities that you can and I would be SOOO grateful.
Can't wait to hopefully hear I am not a freak!!!
Thanks guys!!

Yep, they can cause quite the amount of pain.
It would also explain why it would hurt at random times(not just af)
If you were to have a LAP done, I would put money down that you have growing endometreosis. If you are on any form of hormone treatment, it will get worse.
Good Luck,
Patty

I get pains like this sometimes too, but I also have a (on a scale of 1- 10 ) about a "2" to "3" type of pain on my lower right side. I had an exploratory lap done last week and I had some "mild" endometriosis and my appendix removed, I go to the doctor the 20th for a full review of the surgery. But from what my dad said, she didn't think that either is what is causing my lower right pain, I sometimes think it could be my intestines, but I don't have any IBS signs really, I have had an upper gi with lower gi follow through and all was normal, and the doctor said from the outside at least my intestines looked normal in the lap. Good luck in your findings and if I find anything interesting that I think may help on the 20th I'll pass it along.

I have a very similar pain to what you are describing even in so far as it being on the left. I have pointed it out to my doctor and she has been a bit befuddled and inquired more into exactly how it felt and where it was to get a good idea of what the problem was.
Endometriosis may be a possibility, however, I can tell you that I had a laparoscopy after this pain had become its worst and there was no endometriosis found at all. The only thing out of the ordinary was that there were very large cysts on my left ovary that were displacing my intestine.
The pain has been much improved since having a LAP cystectomy but it is not totally improved.
I get pains similar to what you are talking about and I do not have endo, so I suggest you go to a DR. and make sure what is going on. One of my old drs told me that it had something to do with cysts on the ovary or something....which does sound logical i suppose. Good luck

Well what the doctor told my dad is that the endo was mild and would most likely not affect fertility, however it probably is what is causing the pain...
