Post what next?

just completed a fasting glucose test. fasting blood sugar level was 138. 2 hours after belgian waffles(with syrup)and sugared coffee, my blood sugar level was 118. the nurse told me this morning that that was within the normal limits, but according to the newbie board, this is too high a level. what should i tell my doctor when i call to discuss results of test?

thanks

All doctors have different levels that they consider to be normal. My doctor would consider your levels normal as well. I think it is just one of those things that there really should be a standard on, but isn't.

Mmmm..belgian waffles with syrup! I'd make them give you the test again just so you had an excuse to have that again! If *I* had eatten that meal with no medication, my blood sugar would have been in the 180s!

Your fasting level seems high. My dr says it should be under 90 (but I'm pregnant) As far as after that meal I would jump for joy w/ that reading. Even w/ insulin and exercise my reading would have been like 150 and in the 200's w/ no meds or insulin. I would keep a check for a couple of days on that fasting though.
