It's been 4 years since I lost my baby boy. We tried to get pregnant again with no luck and I gave up 2 years ago. I thought it was for the best and that we'd try again someday. I decided I had better things to do. I am furthering my education, my DH wants to get his master's degree etc... But latley I have felt like it's time to start again. I am getting those familer feelings of "hatred" when I see pregnant women. You ladies know what I mean... I do not hate pregnant women or people with babies. I just feel sorry for myself... I am scared to death. I feel like I want to start TTC again but I don't know. I am confused... I guess I just need to talk and vent.

Do you have a 'plan of action' with your RE on what steps to take to conceive? Maybe if you have some sort of plan or guideline set up, you'll feel better emotionally/mentally about starting the process again.
What are some of the things you've tried in the past?

I have an appointment with a new RE on the 26th... I hope to leave there with a plan...
After offical dx I went on clomid... I got up to 200 mg a day, had ovarian drilling then went on Metformin and dexamethasone. I got pregnant 2 months after drilling on 250mg, metformin and dexa... After the m/c we tried again with the same meds but I stopped ovulating...
My old doctor told me the next step was injections. I am not sure if I can afford them. My insurance covers nothing... We'll see...

Ask your Dr to order from a pharmacy in London, IVFmeds. My OB uses them and they are WAY cheaper! I get clomid, injection meds and trigger shot from them.

Dazie, 250 mg of Metformin isn't very much at all, probably not very effective either. Most of what I have read says that the lowest effective dose of Metformin is 1500 mg. I'm currently taking 1500 mg, and getting regular af's for the first time in a long time.
Do you think you could ask your doctor about taking that much Metformin? There are articles available on this site that you can print and take with you to show your RE, if he is hesitant.
That truly may be all you need to ovulate - while it isn't considered a fertility drug - it does help restore ovulation in many cysters, and those wishing to ttc have a much easier time getting there when they are ovulating regularly.

Diamond, sorry... I miss typed I was on 250 mg of clomid, 1500 mg of metformin... I have other problems save ovulation. I have a bicornute uterus and my left side is completley closed off from the right. Unfortunetly my left ovary is my dominate ovary SO... when I am on meds and ovulation is achevied if it's my left ovary and it drops to my left tube it has no where to go... I have a host of problems... Whoopee

Dazie - you aren't alone. I also had a bicornuate uterus. I lost my son in '01 at about 18 weeks along, due largely to the condition of my uterus. I had my uterus repaired in '02, and was able to carry a future pregnancy full-term in '03 (although a complicated pregnancy, with hospitalized bed rest). We are currently ttc again, as well.
I'm not sure if surgery is an option for you? Have you had an MRI of your uterus? If not, I would push for this as soon as possible. You deserve to be informed of all of your options.
About the Metformin...1500 mg is the lowest effective dose - which means for many cysters they require and respond to a higher level. 2500mg is about the highest most doctors will prescribe. But even going to 2000 mg could be enough to help.
I can't believe how similar our backgrounds are - I'm really glad soulcysters exists and we are able to share/help one another.

My uterus is not the typical bicornute... My left side is completley closed off from my right. There is no opening anywhere and it is nonresponsive to hormones. So surgery for me is not an option. My doctor is not worried about my uterus not being able to carry a baby the issue comes in with my ovary producing an egg that drops it in the left tube... Usless cycle. Alas... Well see what my new RE has to say on the 26th I'll keep you posted!!!

Dazie, do you mean that an egg from your left side could still be fertilized, despite the ovary being cut off from the rest of your uterus? That does seem complicated, I'm sorry. Please do keep us updated after your appointment.

Umm, not exactley. If an egg dropped from my left ovary into my right tube then it would be fine but that is unlikley to happen. I mean that if I ovulate from either side and it falls into the left tube then it is a usless cycle... My left ovary tends to be my dominate ovary so when I am on meds and it falls into my left tube we wasted that cycle... It's confusing, I know. Talk to you soon!
