Ameg, I have never had an anxiety attack. But a panic attack and an anxiety attack or panic disorder are terms used interchangeable. My hd has been having anxiety attacks for several years now. He says to him that it feels like a heart attack, his left arm hurts and his body tingles. He must take medication regularly for this. If you suspect that you have anxiety disorder you really do need to see your dr. You may want to click on the link below and complete the form and share the results with your dr. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask me. Please see a dr.

Good Luck to you!

Default attacks

I suffer attacks and I think they are the same.
my docs use both names for it.
The panic attack feels like a heart attack!
High anxiety is like a your racing even when you are still.
That's the best way I can describe it.
I would ask your Dr. about a different med or a pill to get you through an episoide.

Default Ack!

My hubby has the exact same problem after a few weeks on Paxil and the MD tells him it's a side effect that occurs in a small amount of patients. Per our MD, the attacks are almost like a manic feeling but only physiological, not mental. My hubby has been complaining of jitteriness, inability to sit still (even watching the Red Sox LOL), inability to concentrate on reading and sense of internal restlessness although he feels tired physically. He has suffered from Social Anxiety Disorder and panic attacks for the last year and states emphatically that this is a totally different experience than the anxiety symptoms.

Celexa is notorious for it's SE's and was mentioned by our MD (we're in CT also) along with Paxil as known for this problem. What he did for hubby is start him on Prozac 20mg to ease the weaning off Paxil. Today is one week from the MD appt and he states that the feeling is much better. His last 1/4 dose of Paxil was yesterday and he is fully on the Prozac.

Feel free to email if you have more questions - irishstjean@yahoo.com

Default Prozac thoughts

I went through my first pregnancy (almost 6 years ago) on Prozac the whole term. My doctor at that time, from the very-progressive Univ of Michigan Hosp, felt strongly that the benefits of a mentally healthy Mom far outweighed the potential threats to baby, especially with my known family history of depression.

I was on 20 mg a day for the first 1-2 months and actually increased incrementally to 80 mg a day by the time I was at 8 months. My MD thought that changes in blood volume may have made me require more prozac to do the same job by the end.

I had a very healthy pregnancy until 7.5 months when I abruptly started having protein in urine in sm. qties. Although not diagnosed with IR at the time, I had no gest. Diab problems either. I was dx with pre-eclampsia at about 30 weeks and delivered my son naturally after induction at 34 1/2 weeks. He was a perfect beautiful baby then and is the most delightful kindergartner even now :-). He has tested as "gifted" and has been reading since he was 3 (no preemie develop. delay here!)!

Bottom line: I would use Prozac again during pregnancy without a second thought :-) it's a good drug that saved my life!
